McGinty Machine Owner to Retire; Company Acquired by Cox Machine
WICHITA, KAN. – Don McGinty, president and owner of The McGinty Machine Company, Inc., a local aerospace manufacturer, announces his retirement and the sale of his company to Cox Machine effective January 17, 2024.
McGinty has led McGinty Machine for nearly 45 years, becoming president and, eventually, sole-owner following his father’s death in 1980. Throughout his tenure, McGinty focused on innovation and diversification to persevere through the industry’s ups and downs. This resulted in the company’s substantial growth and numerous awards and designations, including as a 2017 Elite Supplier and “Top 25 Supplier” by Lockheed Martin; “Best New Program Support” by Spirit AeroSystems; and various awards through the Wichita Business Journal and Wichita Regional Chamber of Commerce. McGinty has been actively involved with local and national politics during his time leading his company, advocating for small businesses and manufacturing.
McGinty is pleased with the sale of McGinty Machine to Cox Machine, a local precision manufacturer with a strong history of leadership, innovation and commitment to the Wichita community.
“I have personally known Steve Cox and Jason Cox for a long time and believe the direction they are moving is the right direction for the future of McGinty Machine and, especially, my employees,” said McGinty. “They are a great company, and I am confident my employees will do great there and the business will thrive.”
McGinty anticipates a smooth transition for the company, its employees and customers. He is looking forward to retirement and having more time for golf, travel and pursuing other hobbies.
