Recently, Dr. He and his team successfully performed a hip replacement surgery, demonstrating exceptional surgical expertise through the use of the SurgTech ceramic-polyethylene hip joint system. The patient is currently recovering well, and SurgTech’s hip joint solution has received high acclaim.

Patient: Male, 58 years old

Chief Complaint: Admitted due to "left hip joint pain for 3 years, with worsening of pain over the past 20 days." Currently, the patient experiences pain in the left hip joint, which is exacerbated during walking or weight-bearing. Seeking further treatment, the patient presented to our hospital's outpatient department and was admitted to our ward with a diagnosis of "Avascular Necrosis of the Left Femoral Head." Presenting Symptoms: Left hip joint pain, aggravated by walking and weight-bearing.

Physical Examination: Tenderness upon palpation noted in the left inguinal region (+); tenderness upon palpation noted in the left gluteal region and over the left greater trochanter (+); percussion pain noted in the left hip region (+); longitudinal percussion pain noted (+). The left lower limb appears shortened by approximately 1 cm compared to the right lower limb; slight atrophy of the left quadriceps muscle is observed. Muscle strength is Grade IV in the left lower limb and Grade V in the right lower limb. Swelling is present in the left lower limb; dorsalis pedis pulses are normal; physiological reflexes are present; pathological reflexes are absent. No obvious deformities are noted in the joints of the remaining limbs. Since the onset of the condition, the patient's general spirits, appetite, and sleep quality have been poor; bowel and bladder functions are normal; and there has been no significant change in body weight.

Diagnosis: Avascular Necrosis of the Left Femoral Head

Prosthesis Selection: Biologic-fixation Femoral Stem + Ceramic Femoral Head + Biologic-fixation Acetabular Cup + Polyethylene Liner

Percutanouskyphoplasty (PKP)

--PKP involves making a small incision of about 2mm and inserting a needle through the skin into the vertebral body under X-ray guidance to create a working channel. A balloon is then inserted into the vertebra and inflated to restore its height before bone cement is injected. This technique rapidly stabilizes the fractured vertebra, prevents further collapse, and significantly alleviates pain.

--The surrounding cancellous bone is compacted during balloon inflation, creating a barrier that prevents bone cement leakage.

--Bone cement is injected incrementally using a cement pusher, reducing the pressure compared to continuous injection, thus minimizing the risk of cement leakage.
