Join us in congratulating Lou Soracco, who was named the New England Water Works Association’s Volunteer of the Year.

Lou has played an active leadership role with NEWWA’s Filtration Committee for more than a decade and has been instrumental in organizing and moderating the association’s annual Water Quality Symposium. Through his service, Lou fosters meaningful conversations around water treatment, regulations, and advancements in filtration across the industry.

Congratulations, Lou!

From coastal resilience to regulatory strategy, our team is bringing multiple perspectives to the Maine Water Environment Association (MEWEA) Fall Convention at Sunday River from September 17-18.

Stefanie Tetreault will join our client, City of S**o Government, to go “Beyond the Permit Matrix” and share insights from the S**o Water Resource Recovery Facility Upgrade. Their session will explore how regulatory strategy shaped project design, funding, and construction – from navigating overlapping local, state, and federal requirements to balancing coastal resilience, environmental resources, public waterfront access, and schedule. They’ll also share what happened when real-world construction conditions challenged the permitting plan.

Fred Mueller will also present a case study of how we helped a client after a sludge storage tank explosion, the investigation that followed, its impact on plant operations, and the Town's plan to move forward.

Heading to MEWEA’s Fall Convention? We hope to see you there!

Members of our Land Use Business Line recently volunteered with the Town of Wellfleet, Cape Cod Shellfish Department.

Our team collected juvenile oysters from the Town’s intertidal farm and spread them in Wellfleet Harbor, and helped place oyster seed and juvenile oysters in bags and racks to allow them to grow to a more predator-resistant size before being planted in public harvest areas.

The volunteer day builds on our ongoing work with the Wellfleet Shellfish Department to update permits for the Town’s more than century-old cultching program. The program sustains Wellfleet’s year-round oyster fishery for both commercial and recreational harvesters while supporting a critical maritime economic resource and providing environmental benefits to the harbor.

Thank you to Johnny, Sarah, and Nancy with the Wellfleet Shellfish Department for sharing your time and expertise with our team!

The Brandon Road Bridge has officially reopened to the public for the first time since 2021.
The reopening restored an important route for residents and vehicles supporting the nearby wastewater treatment plant serving the Town of Dudley and Town of Webster Massachusetts.

We celebrated this important milestone at a ribbon cutting featuring remarks from project partners MassDOT District 3 Highway Director Barry Lorion, State Representative John Marsi, Representative Joe McKenna, and Dudley Board of Selectmen Chair Christopher Starczewski, as well as our team members Jeffrey Faulkner and Dylan Felty. We were also joined by a representative for State Senator Ryan Fattman, other town officials, and Brian Gargan (absent was Project Manager, Andrea Lacasse).

We were pleased to provide engineering, permitting, bid phase, and construction phase services to help restore this vital community connection, which was supported through the donation of truss components by MassDOT; an executed state transportation bond bill earmark; and the Funding for Accelerated Infrastructure Repair (FAIR Share) program.

The Charlton School's new dormitories replace aging dorms and breathe new life into the campus in rural upstate New York. We provided permitting and site civil design, including driveways, walkways, and connections for on-site wastewater, stormwater management, drinking water, and electrical services. Centered around a common area and green space, the new housing supports student needs while fitting into the school’s rural campus setting.

Kudos to our team and the many volunteers who gave their time and energy as the zoo works toward a safe reopening this weekend.

National Water Quality Month underscores the planning needed to provide safe, high-quality drinking water as regulations evolve.

At the Dracut Water Supply District’s facility, earlier iron and manganese treatment improvements preserved space for expansion. That planning is now supporting the addition of PFAS treatment with minimal disruption to operations.
