IPP has just added this wonderful 30,000 metric ton/year aerosol grade DME plant to its portfolio. Made via dehydration of methanol, DME is used primarily as a feedstock for dimethyl sulfate, as a laboratory reagent, as a refrigerant, and as an alternative vehicle fuel among other niche applications.

This plant is late-model, with technology from Johnson Matthey Davy Technologies, and has only been in operation for a few years before its feedstock source was shut down.

Why buy a used/second hand DME plant instead of a new one? This plant can get you to market in half the time, and at 60% the CAPEX of a new plant. Faster time to market, lower CAPEX = additional profit potential.

This plant produces 400 metric tons per day acetic acid with 99.9% purity. It is divided into three sections (reaction, purification and light end recovery). Small amounts or propionic acid, hydrogen and carbon dioxide are produced in this process.
