𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘀.

The James T. Park Building at The University of Utah demonstrates how existing campus facilities can be strengthened, modernized, and adapted for future research and instruction.

Seismic reinforcements, infrastructure upgrades, and renovated instructional spaces create a safer, more flexible academic environment for students, faculty, and researchers. Updated classrooms, offices, and labs support interdisciplinary needs while maintaining the building’s role in the university’s science district.

We sincerely thank MJSA Architects, Big-D Construction Midwest, the University of Utah, and the entire project team for their collaboration on a facility that will serve students and faculty for years to come.

𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗦𝗦 𝗖𝗔𝗡𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

Our team built a replica of the USS Constitution out of canned food for CANstruction Salt Lake City 2026, timed to the America 250 celebration. Every can gets donated to Utah Food Bank when it's all over.

As fun as the build is, the best part has been the people. The relationships we build with our collaborators, our clients, and our community are what make the work meaningful, and events like this are a good reminder of that.

At our Salt Lake headquarters, conference rooms are named after Utah canyons, but in our Boise office, one is called Russet. The idea sounded a little half-baked at first, until clients started asking: "Did a potato just accept my meeting invite?" At that point, the name had pretty much taken root.

Engineering is serious work, but office culture doesn't always have to be.

On International Day of Potato, Reaveley's yielding respect for the russet.

𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀. 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀, 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆.

The seismic upgrade and renovation of The University of Utah's Kingsbury Hall helped preserve one of Salt Lake City’s most well-known performing arts venues. Since it opened in 1930, Kingsbury Hall has welcomed generations to concerts, lectures, theater, dance, commencements, and cultural events.

The renovation focused on both preserving the building and improving its long-term use. Upgrades included seismic improvements, air conditioning, better seating, larger restrooms, a movable orchestra platform, new dressing and practice rooms, improved lobby and plaza spaces, and a much bigger stage for modern performances.

When working with historic venues, structural engineering is about more than just making buildings stronger. It means helping these places move forward while honoring the character that people already know and appreciate.

That vision shaped the Intermountain Health Cottonwood Medical Clinic at the TOSH campus in Murray. The four-story, 78,000-square-foot facility brings together a wide range of care services while introducing the first on-stage/off-stage clinic layout within Intermountain Health’s clinic system.

The layout creates clearer separation between patient-facing and operational spaces, helping improve efficiency for staff while supporting a more comfortable and focused experience for patients.

Projects like this succeed through close collaboration between owners, architects, engineers, and builders working toward the same goal: creating spaces that serve people well today and adapt thoughtfully over time.

It’s meaningful to be part of a project centered on improving healthcare access and experience for the surrounding community.

Reaveley was glad to support a day that raised funds for architecture education programs and the University of Idaho College of Art and Architecture Scholarship Endowment while bringing together architects, contractors, consultants, emerging professionals, and industry partners across the Treasure Valley.

There’s real value in stepping away from the day-to-day to reconnect as people first. Stronger relationships lead to better collaboration, better projects, and ultimately stronger communities.

At Utah State University's Manon Caine Russell Kathryn Caine Wanlass Performance Hall, the design by Sasaki creates a space that supports learning, performance, and community connection in equal measure. Inspired by the surrounding Utah landscape, the hall pairs grounded materiality with a flexible interior designed to support everything from spoken word events to full musical productions.

Behind the scenes, acoustics, structure, and architecture worked together to create clarity, adaptability, and comfort throughout the 421-seat hall. Those decisions help support better learning environments for students, more responsive performance conditions for artists, and a stronger experience for audiences and the broader university community.

One of the most rewarding parts of projects like this is the level of coordination required to align design vision, acoustic performance, and user experience. That collaboration with Sasaki, Jacobsen Construction, and the broader project team helped shape a space built for flexibility, learning, and community connection.

𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲-𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗳𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘅 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗯𝗲𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗼𝗿.

By introducing a hinge at the center point, engineers create a location where the bending moment becomes zero. That one detail helps make the structure easier to analyze while still delivering strength, stability, and flexibility across the system.

It’s a reminder that good structural design is often about understanding how forces move through a structure and finding elegant ways to manage them.

Working alongside GSBS Architects and the project team, Reaveley Engineers provided structural engineering services for the expansive column-free exhibit hall, along with custom steel trusses, open-web joists, and concrete shear walls designed for long-term durability and flexibility.
