Recently, we had a customer come to us with a fabrication challenge. They needed something that worked, but the solution wasn't quite as straightforward as they'd hoped.

Instead of simply building what was on paper, we took the time to understand the problem, talk through the options, and find a better way to make it work.

That's what custom fabrication is all about.

A GOOD WELD IS MORE THAN A PRETTY BEAD.

A clean weld might catch your eye, but there’s a lot more happening than what you see on the surface.

Good welding starts before the arc is ever struck. Material type, thickness, joint fit-up, cleanliness, heat input, travel speed and technique all play a part in producing a weld that is strong, consistent and right for the application.

One of the biggest misconceptions is that if a weld looks good, it must be good. Appearance matters—but proper pe*******on, fusion and controlling distortion matter even more.

That’s where experience comes in.

Our welders work with a variety of materials, thicknesses and fabricated assemblies, and every job requires a slightly different approach. Knowing how the metal is going to react to heat—and how to control it—is just as important as knowing how to run the bead.

At Maine Source Machining, welding isn’t simply another step in the fabrication process. It’s part of building a finished product that performs the way it was designed to.
