Land Surveying isn't high profile or glamorous. We don't build anything and we never have anything to show for our hard work. What we have is something far greater. We can impact many individuals in a very personal way every day.

Someone calls because they have a specific need, a need that they believe is unique. Maybe that need is because of what someone told them. Maybe it's because of their situation. But when we are done, we as Land Surveyors have resolved someone's unique need and situation. Something only they can talk about. That is priceless.

It is common to believe that utility boxes are property corners. This picture identifies the utility boxes about 10 feet away from the deck that surrounds a pool. I have marked where the property corner is. Its behind the pool deck. The flag in the foreground is the corner up by the street. Part of the pool and pool deck is over the property line. This may be a costly fix. Please don't allow this to happen to you. Make sure that when you do make property improvements that you get a survey!

Depending on the City you live in, if you are planning an addition to your home, a property survey may be required. Here is a picture of the excavated hole and the masons are erecting the walls for the foundation.

This is a Waukesha property and in one of the pictures you can see the pink flag behind the fences. That is a confirmed property corner. Luckily for this property owner the fences are close to the property corners. If these were found to be on another's property, that could cause an issue. On the opposite side of that, what kif your fence was on your neighbors property?

This picture with the hammer in the background was sent to me from the Field Surveyor on site. The property corner was along side a huge Transformer. We decided not to pound a 20" rod in the ground, but instead we set a cross on the Concrete pad where the Transformer was sitting. The cross was a 2 foot offset to the actual corner. You my have a similar situation. So please don't assume, be careful not to use a point that is referencing or witnessing the "Real" corner. Give me a call and lets see what I can do for you.

Thiensville Wisconsin - A New Home.
We have a clients that need a Property Survey for building permits that include topographic data (The height and change of the height of the ground), any existing features of the property, such as large trees, sidewalks, drive openings, curb and gutter, water hydrants, fences, neighboring homes, etc....

These pictures of the property have been taken prior to breaking ground for the construction of the new home.

Sometimes we have to come back for different phases of the construction to verify the location of the new home. First, we mark out (Stake the house) on the ground in the correct location prior to digging the hole. In some circumstances we will have to come back after the hole for the foundation has been dug to identify where the new home will go. Then finally when the house is built some title companies, clients, and or City's will ask us to locate where the house was actually built.
