Well it hasn't been easy, but the guys never gave up and finally got the elusive 6 second pass at Tx2k24 yesterday! This pass makes this car the first (and currently only) C6 Corvette to break into the 6s with a manual transmssion and on top of that it is still using the factory torque tube and IRS setup (even stock cradle!) which many didn't think was even possible. As of now the car is sitting 3rd in qualifying as well with E1 starting Sunday.
This car has been on a long journey and alot of people have contributed parts, knowledge, hands-on assistance, and more to get this car where it is today. A few years ago when the decision was made to turn this street car into an all out race car the goal was to go after the fastest H-pattern record which at the time had just broken into the 7s.......during the time it took to complete the car that record kept getting faster and faster just like it continues to this day and the competition keeps pushing it deeper and deeper which meant things had to evolve for the car to make sure it would be competitive.
All of the programs sponsors since day 1 have been very important to it's success, but I personally want to thank a few of the specific companies we were able to get on board with the program that have been a GIANT part of the car's parts combination.
(In no specific order)
Haltech and their whole crew...this Nexus R5 setup is in BADASS and their support has been incredible....their track support guys are always stopping by in the pits to make sure everything is going great.
Butter Welding & Design Connor always comes through with any of the fab work the car needs and of course it's top notch....I can't say enough about his talent.
TBM Brakes Mike and Doug have been nothing but the best and jumped on board last Fall when the car needed the best braking setup for those repeated 200mph stops...I am a huge believer in their stuff and will be using their goodies on all future builds.
Forcedinductions.com Jose's turbos are the baddest in the game....any time I am looking for the best results I am looking at his stuff.....his Gen4 88s on this car are ANIMALS!
Black Pearl Performance Jake has been working with this car since basically day 1; He assembled and wired the car when he was with CPR Competition and is always putting in the time and effort to make sure it performs at it's best
Turbosmart this car has all the goodies from them including their egates, blowoffs, and oil pressure regulators...they have been eager to help with anything the program needs...In my opinion there is no better boost management products out there.
Redhorse Performance Inc. Kevin and his team have always been world class in their support and have gotten all the plumbing for the car as well as helping with a few emergency situations the car has needed.
Bullet Racing Engines putting together an engine that can handle this type of max effort power is no easy task and Nick has been 100% supportive since they got on board....he builds some of the best engines in the business!
RPM Transmissions these guys have been on board since the car was still terrorizing the streets and they have always been willing to do whatever is needed to help the program succeed....they even offered up their own shop and tools to help pull the trans when we had some issues and were in their neck of the woods.
And of course we can't forget about the most important pieces of the puzzle...Ryan not only for his driving skills and hands-on wrenching, but also for trusting in all of the people involved to make this beast come alive....and obviously Jake and Aaron for the COUNTLESS hours they put into fixing, prepping, and upgrading the car not only at the track, but all the hours in the shop doing whatever needs to be done to make sure this missile is ready to battle....these guys put their personal lives on hold to travel and maintain the car for all the events it goes to! That trio doesn't even have the word quit in their vocabulary.....I'm proud to call them friends and glad I could lend a hand in getting this car where it is today.
Oh and the car isn't done yet....a few mechanical failures aren't gonna stop them from getting the car put back together for E1! There is still room to go even quicker/faster and they will be pushing!
