Taking a closer look at the True Tow Lightweight spring arms (AKA the muscle of your towing setup 💪). By applying leverage to your vehicle's chassis, they shift the load forward, giving you:

⚖️ Level, stable ride
🚘 Maximum steering control
🌬️ Reduced trailer sway

That is a wrap on National Trailer Safety Week!

Safety isn't a one-time conversation. It’s a habit every single time you hook up. Before you head out on your next trip, run through this quick pre-trip checklist:

⚖️ Verify Tongue Weight: Is your tongue weight sitting in that safe 10-15% sweet spot?
🚚 Check Your Ride: Is your truck and trailer setup sitting perfectly level?
🔗 Rigging Check: Are your safety chains crossed and your receiver pins locked?
⚠️ Know Your Limits: Are you 100% sure you are within your truck and trailer weight ratings?

Thank you for joining us for . Let's keep our roads safe all year long.

Know your limits on both your truck AND trailer.

If your truck is rated to tow 10,000 lbs, but your trailer’s Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) is maxed out at 7,000 lbs, you cannot safely or legally haul a 9,000-lb load. You risk catastrophic trailer axle, tire, or brake failure.

On the flip side, even if your trailer is perfectly fine, overloading your truck’s maximum payload capacity or hitch rating will squat your rear suspension, lift weight off your front steering tires, and severely compromise your braking.

You have to know your numbers:
1️⃣ Your truck's max towing and payload capacity.
2️⃣ Your trailer’s GVWR (total maximum weight).
3️⃣ Your hitch's maximum tongue weight rating.

Do you know your setup's exact weight ratings, or do you have questions on how to find them?

When your setup is unlevel, your trailer's weight isn't distributed across its axles the way the manufacturer intended.

⬇️ If the trailer slopes DOWN toward the truck: You over-compress your truck’s rear suspension, causing your front steering tires to lose traction. Your trailer's front axle takes the brunt of the abuse, leading to uneven tire wear or a blowout.

⬆️ If the trailer slopes UP toward the truck: You lose critical tongue weight, instantly increasing your risk of trailer sway. It also overloads the trailer's rear axle.

The fix is simple: you need to adjust your hitch height to match your specific truck and trailer combination.

An Adjustable Drop Hitch is a core safety tool. It allows you to easily raise or lower your hitch ball in one-inch increments, ensuring your trailer sits perfectly flat no matter what you’re hauling or what truck you're driving.

You hear us say 10-15% all the time, but do you know why it matters?

If your trailer’s tongue weight drops below that 10-15% sweet spot, the trailer's center of gravity shifts too far back. This creates a leverage effect against your truck, leading to dangerous, terrifying trailer sway at highway speeds.

Go too far over that 15% mark, and you overload your truck’s rear axle... lifting weight off your front tires and losing critical steering and braking control.

The real challenge is that you can’t see weight just by looking at a trailer, and "guesstimate" towing is a massive safety gamble.

That is exactly why we built the Weigh Safe Drop Hitch. The built-in scale gives you a precise, real-time tongue weight reading the second you drop the coupler onto the ball. No guessing, just instant proof that your setup is balanced and safe to hit the road.

Every year, trailer-related accidents account for over 400 fatalities and 20,000 injuries on our highways... and the vast majority of these incidents are 100% preventable.

They don’t happen because of bad luck; they happen because simple towing education and proper vehicle setup are overlooked.

As an official ally for , we are dedicated to changing those numbers. Your safety on the road depends entirely on what happens at your hitch, which is why Weigh Safe is proud to support this mission.

All week long, we’re going to drop critical safety tips to ensure you hook up correctly, haul confidently, and arrive safely. We believe every driver deserves total peace of mind before they ever shift into drive.
