HELP!!
I am an unemployed, disabled veteran.
I need immediate legal help for Civil Rights Violations done to me at Kershaw County (S.C.) Council Meeting on October 11, 2022. This means the state filing deadline is October 11, 2024.
The reason I need a Civil Rights Attorney is that I hired a criminal attorney immediately after the arrest, he has a history of going against the County Sheriff (who is also part of my cases) and he was going to represent me for the civil cases, but there was a contingency.
I apparently misunderstood our agreement because after he had asked me if another firm out of Columbia could join the case in January/February of 2023, I stopped looking for further assistance.
I found out just a couple weeks ago that my attorney no longer does civil cases and the firm that had (apparently not) partnered with him on my civil case has since dissolved and the main attorney from there that he had been talking with no longer does civil cases.
I have spent time trying to contact/secure legal representation since I found out I am on my own for the civil cases, but because the criminal trials haven’t happened yet, and my “innocence” is still being questioned, no one is willing to invest any time in last minute because I can’t afford to pay them for their time. My criminal attorney gave me a 50% discount, paid in full last year, but he doesn’t do civil anymore. The 3 reasons I have been given for not accepting my case are:
That’s not my area
I don’t do civil cases anymore
You exceeded their time limit
There are several counters to this argument, but for starters there is plenty of evidence that the county council enforced that time limit with prejudice (I built a spreadsheet)
I wish I had known far enough back to research and figure out how to file and all on my own, but because of the misunderstanding between my criminal attorney and myself, I don’t have time before the deadline anymore.
I cannot just drop this, but I don’t know how to do it myself. I need help filing my civil suits because the deadline is looming but no one will take my civil cases before the criminal trial because if I’m found guilty at the criminal trials then my standing for their abuse of authority claims is seriously hurt.
I KNOW I have a case.
I KNOW I did not violate any actual laws.
I need help properly filing civil rights abuse charges against Kershaw County Council, specific members of that council, and the Kershaw County Sheriff.
As long as the suits are properly filed before the deadline I know I am able to represent myself if I have to. I won my first lawsuit, in court, against a lawyer, when I was 17 (way back in 1994 before the internet even) and on my own with a lot less evidence to support me.
I need help filing the suit because I don’t have time to research now, I don’t really know where to start, and with less than 4 weeks to file… I’m screwed.
If you might be willing to help me, please DM me. I have spreadsheets and documents to support my cause. Hell, I’d love for you to read the written statement I was reading the night I was thrown out and arrested at the County Council Meeting, it was telling the council what the law actually says about what is allowed during the Public Comment portion of the meeting, which they ignored and shut me down anyway, in violation of the ACTUAL law.
WE THE PEOPLE need to stand up to government employees.
I need help standing.
