Henry has gotten a head start on his planting. Those new knees aren’t stopping any time soon! 😂

10,000 tomato seeds, 10,000 red and sweet onions sowed, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, lettuce, little fingers,

2,120 large sweet peppers, 5,700 peppers and Purple Wave Petunias. WOW Henry!

If you are a gardener, here is a list of some plants that are suited for the spring climate.

Tomatoes thrive in warm weather with plenty of sun.
Basil which is a fragrant herb.
Carrots are a root vegetable.
Lettuce is an excellent choice.
Peas need a sunny spot and good drainage.
Spinach should be planted in partial shade.
Radishes are a quick growing veggie.
Beets prefer cool temperatures.
Chives are a hardy perennial herb.
Broccoli & Cauliflower are both cool season veggies.
Summer or Winter squash want full sun.
Pumpkins require a longer growing season, so plant now.

April is the perfect time to kickstart your garden, providing the last frost has passed!

If you have any planting questions, Henry is here to help!

It’s been a challenging winter for many of us! This season resembles the kind of winters we used to have, unpredictable, cold temperatures, winds, & snow accumulations. Remember…..no winter lasts forever.

March 8th, Spring Forward, resetting the clocks & losing an hour sleep.

March 20th, Spring officially arrives. A time for renewal & fresh beginnings to lift our spirits over a very long winter. A time of plans & projects.

Henry has his plans and projects in place. Soil and Non GMO seeds are all ordered & awaiting arrival. He will be starting in the greenhouse April 1st planting tomatoes, cabbage, eggplant, lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower, sweet peppers, and marigolds.

With two new knees, Henry is ready to get the 2026 planting season started. He has made great progress with both surgeries. There will be NO stopping him this season. It won’t be long Henry, April is just around the corner.

Today Henry had his second knee replacement. The surgery went well and he is in recovery in Plattsburg Hospital.

Most likely he’ll be heading home tomorrow and begin the recouping process.

Hopefully his progress will go as smoothly as his first surgery.

Henry will be ready to go go go when it comes planting time in 2026!

Wow……the Get Well wishes and kind gestures are still coming in for Henry!

Henry wants to thank Linda and Steve from West Chester County for dropping off meals at his house a few weeks ago. That gesture was so appreciated and very unexpected!

Henry is doing great! He is keeping up with his PT and even goes to Walmart to walk around and enjoys visiting with folks.

As mentioned before, not much keeps our brother down for long! Go Henry!!!

Happy November…the last month of autumn, marking the transition to winter. It’s time to bring on all the coziness!

It has been a week since Henry had his knee replacement surgery. And he is doing awesome! He is up and walking slowly, doing some cooking, even been on his computer looking at seeds for the 2026 planting season.

Henry wants to reach out to thank you all for your well wishes thru cards and or Facebook messages.

The concern you showed him is extremely touching and really appreciated.

Henry has a positive attitude and is fully committed to his recovery.

I’ll keep you posted as Henry progresses.

Update on Henry….. his scheduled surgery for 11am turned into a 2pm surgery time.

Henry came out of surgery around 3pm and the procedure went well Laurel said.

At 5:30, Henry was coming out of anesthesia and was in some pain ( who wouldn’t be). The doctors are doing pain management to get him comfortable.

Thank you for all the messages of encouragement, your thoughts and prayers for Henry. I’m trying to answer each message personally but if I miss someone, please know it was an oversight! Henry’s family appreciates all of you just for taking time out of your schedules to send emoji’s or messages! Family and friends are priceless! 😊

If you have noticed Henry moving a little slower than usual the last couple years, it’s because he has had knee issues. But he rarely complained and just kept working at his farming business!

Kay and I even suggested Henry take the 2025 season off. But Henry didn’t want to let any of his customers down so he worked thru the season (with our help and Laurel’s) and managed the pain! Now that is definitely a dedicated farmer!

Going thru the motions of shots in the knees, PT, more shots, knee braces, losing weight, and waiting for the right time. Well the time has come! This morning, October 28th, Laurel will be taking Henry to Plattsburg CVPH to get his long awaited knee replacement! One knee today and the other knee not far behind!

Please keep Henry in your thoughts and prayers that his surgery goes well today! He is mentally prepared for the surgery and psyched for what he hopes will be free of pain in one knee. He has an excellent doctor! Surgery is scheduled for 11am and can take 1-2 hours.

I will keep you updated on his progress!

Thank you all for keeping Henry in your thoughts for a successful surgery and speedy recovery!

If anyone wants to send get well wishes, his address is 3 Woody Lane Ticonderoga, NY 12883.

Thank you from his family!

The time has come to close the Farm Stand for the 2025 Season!

A heartfelt thank you to all for the support you have given Drinkwine’s Produce/Bread Basket of Essex Co.

Your support helps a small business thrive.

It was a slow start at the beginning of the season this year, but the late harvest was a blessing.

Because of the crazy weather, it wasn’t one of the better years for a wide variety of product. Surely missed all the squash varieties, the loads of tomatoes, and the pumpkins. We will have to wait for next season and hope it’s a better one!

Again, thank you for trusting a small business to provide you with Farm Fresh Produce.

Remember to shop local and support all the other businesses in our area.
