Hiring Structural Engineer!
Job Summary:
NHWL Engineering provides design and analysis services to pulp and paper and the associated mining and chemical industry. We deliver engineered solutions for new and modified systems within existing facilities and completely new facilities. This position involves concrete and steel design and analysis for modified and new configurations of mill building, conveyor structures, tank support structures and ground supported tanks and equipment. Client facilities are primarily located in the southeastern US which normally require consideration of high wind conditions. Some clients are also located in high seismic areas. NHWL also provides design services for mill equipment vendors with worldwide distribution.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Analytical responsibilities include static and dynamic analysis of combinations of existing and new structural steel and concrete. NHWL uses Tekla Structures with interface to STAAD.Pro for most projects. Job responsibilities involve conceptual design of concrete and steel with equal consideration of code compliance, engineering fundamentals and construction costs and schedule. Design solutions are developed and tested against 3D point cloud models to ensure fit and function. Design is a shared responsibility with other disciplines. The civil / structural engineer is expected to use 3D visualization tools (Navisworks) for project coordination within the design office. Steel and concrete design is typically performed in 3D within Tekla Structures. NHWL uses a delegated approach (Option 2) for connections that limits the amount of connection design performed in-house. Engineers interface with the client and participate in project review meetings.
Required Qualifications:
• 5+ years relevant experience
• Bachelor of Science/Engineering Degree
• Although not a requirement for employment we expect the candidate to pursue professional licensure.
