Stow Cleanup

Stow Cleanup The Stow Cleanup is held annually in the spring to pick up trash and garbage around the town of Stow, Massachusetts.

The Stow Cleanup Group was created in 2009 to clean up the litter around the Town of Stow, Massachusetts. The original steering committee included founder, Sandy Taft, Tara Taft, Marie Guiles, Chris Spear, Janet Moffat, David Cobb, and Jean Lynch. In 2010, the Group was joined by Jean Caviness. Originally an Earth Day event, the cleanup date was moved to early April to avoid school vacation weeken

ds and, hopefully, poison ivy. The Group meets two or three times in February and March to plan for the spring event. Special thanks to Ace Hardware, Boy Scouts, the Stow Highway Department, and the Stow Police Department for providing supplies and equipment each year and for the over 160 volunteers who help us clean up our town.

Today we recognize Juneteenth, the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. It is a day to celebrate freedom and reflect on the ongoing journey towards equality.

This week in the Independent, we check in on the Randall Woods Park Grand Opening and get the latest on the plans for a basketball pavilion at the Masters Academy. We also take a closer look at how the state plans to make mowing changes at the Delaney Wildlife Management Area in Stow following turtle deaths.

In Bolton, a summer concert series is planned for the Bolton Town Common and we begin a look at the Town sports teams. A Nashoba Grad, being called one of the top young organists in the world, has a free local concert tomorrow, Friday, June 19 at 7:30 pm.
