We at the Scallop Bucket are very aware of our resources and want to preserve them. While I’d love to see a minimum size come along, I’m not sure that would happen. This two week delay of season could help with that as we continue our efforts on education about sizing and life cycle!

I am in support of delaying Scallop Season 2024 until July 1st. Protect our babies!

What IS the Scallop Bucket??

We developed the scallop bucket as an easy solution to measure and handle our scallop harvest per FWC guidelines. The scallop bucket accurately measures 1 gallon of scallops and conveniently packages them in a mesh bag which can then be placed in your cooler or live well. The scallop bucket eliminates the need to handle the individual scallops multiple times. Each red bag will contain one gallon of scallops once closed, and thus authorities will also be able to easily check your harvest if necessary. Each kit includes a sturdy 1 gallon bucket with clearly marked measurements on the side, 50 mesh bags, and rubber bands to secure bags while filling your bucket. Each kit is packaged in a scallop collection bag.

To use the scallop bucket, simply place one of the red mesh bags inside the bucket and secure with a provided rubber band. Scoop a little sea water in the bucket to keep the scallops happy. Now you're ready to add your scallops from your collection bag into the bucket! You'll see that I use a 2" sizer to cull our scallops to ensure preservation of our resource! Once your bucket is full, you'll simply close up your red bag and toss it on ice or in your live well.
