Stanford Jazz Consortium The Stanford Jazz Consortium is an on-campus student group dedicated to continuing the jazz tradition, and supporting the growth of jazz on campus.

The Stanford Jazz Consortium is a community based organization that emphasizes collaboration, creativity, and education. SJC would like to extend a warm welcome to the class of 2020! If you’re music oriented and want to jump right into the music community, the Stanford Jazz Consortium is kicking off week 1 with some amazing events. We’re more than just jazz and for anyone interested in music in general at Stanford, we’ve got the right stuff.

1. The Funky Knuckles LIVE at 576 Alvarado, Thursday September 29. 10 p.m. show start. They are really badass.

2. Activities Fair at White Plaza, Friday September 30th 12 pm – 3:30 pm. Come get your questions answered by the most involved members of the music community! Doesn’t matter if you play jazz, classical, rock, R&B, soul, funk, or some combination, we have answers for you about where to go to find the right music for you! Don’t be scared if you don’t play an instrument! If you love music, you’ll be at the right place. Look for our table – we’re the Stanford Jazz Consortium and we’ll be in the arts section.

3. JALCO Jam at Harmony House, Friday September 30th 10 pm – 1 am. Do you love live jazz? Do you play? Do you want to jam with Ali Jackson and members of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra (JALCO)? You don’t want to miss the late night hang. These are quite literally the very best jazz musicians in the country and world. It is highly possible that Wynton Marsalis will be in attendance. Seriously. Come out.

4. Jazz & Mimosas at Kimball Hall, Saturday October 2nd 11 am – 2 pm. Meet like-minded musicians and music lovers! This is for anyone that wants to meet their musical classmates. Do you want to form a band on campus? Come meet your future bandmates! We will also be around to answer any questions you have about music at Stanford.

From all of us at SJC, welcome home!

Hi friends, among other things, the Stanford Jazz Consortium is planning to provide next year: heavily subsidized private music lessons for students with top Bay Area professionals ($20 lessons that would normally cost $100), free equipment rentals for students (we already do this, they'll be better next year! www.stanfordjazzconsortium.com/rentals), providing practice space for student musicians, and of course all the normal jazz things (tickets to off campus shows, concerts on campus, jam sessions, workshops, and much more). PLEASE SIGN OUR PETITION FOR FUNDING!! (And share with your friends :D)
