A review from a few years ago on a home we did at Lake Hodges;
We live in a high risk fire area. We have been evacuated because of fire several times, and our old wood house almost burned along with 25 neighbor's homes that did burn during the last big fires. When we decided to build, it was going to be as fire-proof as possible: Steel, Glass and Concrete.
That's when we found Mark Brown and Struc Steel.
We had no experience building with steel before Mark Brown put up this steel frame structure for us. Our plans were transferred to Marks computer, and every structural detail was pre-fabricated in the shop at Struc Steel. After the shop work was completed, the entire structure was assembled in less than two weeks. We were excited, even a bit surprised, to see everything fit together perfectly....just as Mark said it would.
We love our steel concrete glass design, first because it is fire proof, and second, because painted with rust inhibiting paint, we have very low maintenance. The cupola roof and the twelve awnings are all galvanized rust proof Verco, as is the pan on which the main concrete floor and roof were poured.
Luckily, Mark was able to purchase the steel at about half price because of the economic recession at the time, and he passed that savings on to us. All in all it was a great experience, Mark was cool, we never had any glitches, problems or arguments, which is amazing when building a complex structure like ours.
The crew was a happy and friendly bunch, very upbeat, doing a dangerous and difficult job assembling steel 50 feet above the ground.
We experienced one small earthquake in the new house, it hardly moved. We laughingly say we will host an "aftershock" party for friends and neighbors if a big earthquake ever comes.
Sincerely,
Barry and Micke
