Survey field crew found this monument today while performing a survey. When they came back to the office, Alan Quattlebaum was able to find the original field notes where this rock was set in 1901. Other surveys in the area had tried to use proportioning methods to establish the line which put them way out of measurement with the original GLO Plat. This rock however fit within a foot of the reported breakdown. We don’t find monuments this old (117 years) very often, but it is neat when we do and can prove where they come from.

Whitlow Engineering Services, Inc. is incredibly proud to have played a part in the award winning Downtown Searcy Beautification Project.

I had the honor of accepting two awards last night with Mayor David Morris, landscape architect Richard Stafford and civil engineer Adam Whitlow at the Arkansas Municipal League dinner. Searcy received the "Best Facade Restoration" award for the Rialto Theater and "Best Downtown Public Improvement Project" award for the beautification project. I appreciate the work done by our legislators, the City, County, SREDC, Whitlow Engineering Services, Entergy and many more local businesses and volunteers who work together for our community.

Tip of the day. When buying a house go one step further than having the home inspected. Have the lot inspected as well. During dry weather drainage problems may not be apparent to most people, but a qualified engieer or a contractor should be able to spot areas of concern. A good rule of thumb is to make sure the finished floor of the structure is higher than the back of curb or roadway.

Well, this is the flagship post for WES, Inc's new FB page. I was inspired to create a company page with good content after FB so generously auto created a community based page after updating employer info on my personal profile.
