I had the privilege of being one of the last to visit the Oxnard California-based Mullin Museum before it closed to the public. I was hired by the museum to get several D Chaprons, with various hydraulic issues, functioning properly and spent 3 days enjoying the Mullin collection - including wandering through the vast Mullin warehouse. Peter Mullin, the founder of the museum, died late last year & the decision was made to change the museum to hosting private events only and to liquidate a large part of the collection. Most of the Chaprons were sold this past month at a Gooding Florida auction. Numerous Citroens will be auctioned off at the Mullin Museum on April 26th. See:

Picked up this sad looking 1969 Mehari in the middle of nowhere Arizona. Every single plastic panel was dried out and cracked but the rest out of the car was in unbelievably clean condition. The Mehari had spent its entire life as a 'ranch' car so was extremely low mileage and the chassis and the mechanicals were dry and rustfree - albeit a little dusty. The car was parked outdoors about 12-15 years ago because of carburation problems and the plastic body didn't survive the Arizona sun. I have ordered an entirely new Mehari body and will document the car's resurrection on Facebook.

The second Citroen at the CCA Practical Classics Auction is this low-mileage 1987 Citroen 2CV6 Dolly. With only slightly more than 13K miles on the odometer, the Dolly is a right-hand-drive UK-spec version and is expected to sell between $10K to $12K. Check it out at:

The upcoming CCA Practical Classics Auction on March 23rd & 24th in Birmingham UK has 2 Citroens on its auction list including this 1979 Citroen H Van. The H Van has already been converted to a catering truck including the installation of a propane-powered grill and fridge. Great opportunity if you ever had a fantasy about being a roadside chef. It is expected to sell between $12,500 to $16,000 which would essentially be the cost of renovating another H Van into a catering truck. Check it out at:

I have always had a soft spot for the utilitarian Citroen H Van. Produced over a 34-year period, virtually unchanged in appearance, from 1947 to 1981 - the H van was extremely popular as a commercial vehicle due its low flat-floor cargo area (it was front-wheel drive so no drive-shaft tunnel) and numerous size configurations. It could be ordered as a small city delivery van or a massive cargo-capacity moving truck.
The distinctive corrugated ribbed body work used throughout the period of production added strength without adding weight, and required only simple, low cost press tools. The flat body panels were braced on the inside by 'top hat' box sections, at right angles to the ribs. The welded floor was strong enough to support a horse.
This 1972 van, currently residing in Indiana, was used as a moving van in the Netherlands before it was converted to a roomy and practical RV complete with kitchen, toilet and shower. Using a 3-speed manual transmission, the van can run on either propane or gas. There doesn't appear to be any evident rust and is stated to be "well maintained" - priced at $38K (accepting offers), the H Van is listed on Hemmings at https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/cars-for-sale/citroen/unspecified/2218086.html?refer=blog

One of my favorite travel websites is https://www.sawdays.co.uk/ - a great place to find funky and unique inns, hotels and b&b's throughout Western Europe - my wife and I even found a haunted chateau belonging to Louis XV's chef in France for our honeymoon (another story). This month's online magazine features a great story about exploring France in a 2CV - check it out at:

Citroen - historically known for their 'funky' cars, has now gone into the funky glasses business. These glasses, called SEETROËN, implement technology first developed by the French startup Boarding Ring to combat motion sickness. Motion sickness occurs when the information we receive from our inner ear doesn't match up with what we see in front of us. SEETROËN tackles this problem in a simple way: Liquid at the bottom of all four rings (two in front of the eyes, two at the peripheries) responds to gravity and changes in movement the same way the fluid in your inner ear does. By having an "artificial horizon" to look at when you're in the back of a bumpy car, your visual senses should realign with your sense of balance, and you'll no longer feel queasy. You won't be making a fashion statement but it will make those long back-seat rides a lot more enjoyable. They are available at https://lifestyle.citroen.com/ but are sold out until sometime in September.

I remember when the D Wagons (also known as Breaks, Safaris or even Familiales) were virtually snubbed by those looking to acquire a D model - I would get calls from interested buyers saying "I'll consider any DS or ID as long as its not a wagon" - how times have changed. The wagon is now as sought after as the sedan and really good examples are difficult to find. Then, if on top of that, you are also trying to find a RHD version - which they did indeed make for the UK and Aussie markets, then your search became all that more difficult. Here is one for sale in the UK - reputedly fully restored in Blue Angora, vinyl seats and Citromatic trans for £39,950 - see:

Ok - USA Citroenists, here is your one and only chance to own a super rare 1978 GS Pallas (at least for us post-1973 Citroen-deprived Americans) - even in Europe, where a bazillion of these were sold between 1970 and 1986, the GS has become somewhat of a rare beast. Here in the USA however, your are more likely to see a Yeti or Sasquatch than catch sight of one of these on our roads. This one, residing in Washington state, was originally offered on Craigslist for $8,900 - not getting any nibbles on Craigslist, it is now offered on Ebay for the bargain basement price of $4,950 - check it out at:

PSA (the PSA Group consists of Citroen, the Citroen-offshoot luxury brand DS, Peugeot and the recently added Vauxhall and Opel brands purchased from GM) posted this news earlier this year (widely covered by the USA automotive media). PSA is once again exploring whether to sell cars in North America and opened its headquarters in Atlanta and has been actively recruiting employees. Will Citroen (or its offshoot DS) finally make it back to America? Who knows....I've stopped holding my breath a long time ago and the recent rumor that Fiat might be leaving the USA market again is probably not an encouraging sign for PSA. But...one could say that PSA is technically back in the USA - albeit without any cars to sell.
