I almost never have mountain quail calls in inventory, but I've spent a little time this spring adding some really cool mountain quail whistles. Many of these are made with one or more pieces of wood from mountain quail country -- scrub oak, manzanita, juniper, mountain mahogany, and redwood. UNFINISHED CALLS AVAILABLE: This is an experiment to see if quail hunters would like a completed, but unfinished, call that only needs final sanding, oil finish, rubber band, and a leather lanyard added. I'm offering these calls for $60, which includes shipping. I have these four maple blocks and a similar number of unfinished walnut calls. I'm only offering these on my social media for now. They come with instructions of what needs to be done to finish them up, machine screws, Allen wrench, and a couple of rubber bands of the right size. You'll need to get/make your own lanyard. Call the office at 909-887-3444 if you are interested in one of these. By the way, this call finished with a leather lanyard would cost $130. You save more than 50 percent for a little bit of work on your end. These are great sounding, workhorse field calls that mimic the calls of valley, Gambel's, and scaled quail.

I get asked about the difference between my custom line and my heirloom line of quail calls. The basic difference is quality of the wood. These are two nearly identical chamber calls ready for leather lanyard attachment. The call on the left is in the heirloom line while the call on the right is in the custom line. I have even higher grade walnut available on special order.
