DOSECC has been out on Lake Powell for 3 weeks now coring the sediment at the bottom of to help the understand mining pollution.

Multiple agencies are teaming up to sample metal contamination at Lake Powell in a study that involves drilling rigs penetrating deep into ground. Samples will provide details on the concentration of metals deposited in the critical water source.

The rig and equipment have arrived in Lake Powell! The barge was loaded yesterday for three weeks of drilling to understand mine spill contamination in Colorado River sediments. Can't think of a more beautiful place to drill in UT.

Since last October, DES has been drilling 100-170 ft holes in UT to allow the client to install "steam lances" downhole to thaw 30-50 ft of permafrost because of undesired ground settling and we are almost finished. (~135 holes, ~20,000 ft)

The N-4 geothermal slimhole in was successfully tested over the weekend proving that sufficient flow and data can be obtained from a 3.8" hole to prove a geothermal resource!
