Nocturnal Woodcrafts is operated from my home garage where I work at my hobby or some might say obsession in the late night hours into the mornings after work. I create handmade Pens and other items on my lathe as a way to relax and learn Plus I just really enjoy working with my lathe seeing what kind of surprises are hidden in the wood. Working in my little garage workshop is an escape from my re

gular full time job and a way to decompress from daily stresses and feed my pen turning addiction. I list items as I complete them and feel they meet my standards of quality. I'm not trying to crank out large quantities of anything just for the sake of sales or filling orders. I have no desire to make my hobby and means of escaping the daily grind into a chore. I have a full-time job to fill that need. All Profits I make from Nocturnal Woodcrafts have and will continue to be put back into the purchasing supplies, equipment, donations local animal rescues (my best friends came from the rescues) and education to further enjoy and improve my hobby. I'm doing this to support my wood turning addiction and to help some local no kill animal rescues that do great things! Oversized spalted maple knife scales I stabilized & ripped for a project.

Some wood I stabilized last week sanded to 120 to clean up any excess resin. Koa, Maple burl, Spalted curly maple & California buckeye burl.

California buckeye burl we cut from a huge slab two summers ago & a nice piece of Spalted maple I’m going to stabilize this weekend. Should make for some great knife scales.

Finished with Danish oil I wanted a natural look. I’m pleased with it. Shop is slowly falling into place. Should have items for sale on Etsy around summer perhaps sooner.

Just about done with this Modified tanto knife. The blade was purchased a few years back. The maple was a cool piece I stabilized about two weeks ago. After it’s finished it should look great!

Dusted off the Stabilizing equipment as I Type this vacuum is -29 in HG the resin is some old Cactus juice from TurnTex in the chamber is some flame & quilted maple knife scales. I’m currently planning on slowly adding stuff to the Etsy shop in a few months.

Knocking the rust off 🙂 hopefully me & my much better half will be up and running strong in 2019. 2018 didn’t afford us any real time in the shop. It was strange not shipping orders out for the holiday.
