Water Works Engineers’ San Diego Office attended the Padres vs. Dodgers game for some team bonding! It was a true nailbiter that ended with the Padres pulling even with Dodgers atop the NL West, at least for a short bit. It was an exciting night that had our office divided with fans on both sides! A memorable experience for sure!

Water Works proudly participated in the Grand Opening of the City of Provo’s newly upgraded Water Reclamation Facility (WRF), featuring a state-of-the-art membrane bioreactor system. The “Flush Fest” celebration welcomed over 500 attendees, many of whom visited our booth to learn more about modern wastewater treatment processes and the innovative features of the new facility. The event was chaired by Provo Mayor Michelle Kaufusi; Utah County Commissioner Amelia Gardner; KC Becker: Regional Administrator for the Environmental Protection Agency; Provo Public Works Director - Gordon Haight. The mayor described the project as” going from the horse and buggy era to a state of the art water reclamation technology."

We are pleased to announce that Nix Construction (Phase 1) and Whitaker Construction (Phase 2) were awarded the 2024 Award of Excellence by Associated General Contractors of Utah for Project of the Year awards for the Salt Lake City 1800 North Sewer Realignment Projects designed by Water Works Engineers.

Phase 1 consisted of five shallow 36-inch steel casings and carrier pipes across vital transportation and energy transmission corridors. This was accomplished with Pilot Tube Guided Pipe Ramming “threading the needle” through a narrow lens of fine-grained material expertly designed by team-member Bennet Trenchless.

Phase 2 diverted the City’s 50+ year old 1800N Trunk Line into new HOBAS 42-in & 54-in trunk pipelines and T-based manholes and included 20-mgd and 72-mgd submersible pump wastewater bypass operations. And to top it off, Rosewood Park received some new pickleball courts.

Congratulations to the project team(s)!
