Pipes do not just break. Something usually beats them up first.

In many pump systems, that “something” is pulsation. Diaphragm pumps, metering pumps, and peristaltic pumps all move fluid in strokes, and every stroke sends a pressure wave through the line.

Over time, those repeated pressure waves break piping and fittings, wear pump components, damage gauges, and cause unplanned downtime.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Gary L. Cornell, co-founder of Blacoh Fluid Control, at age 82.

Gary began his career at Mobil Oil before joining Wilden Pump, where his experience in the pump industry took root. With Jim Wilden’s blessing, he joined together with Bob Blair to found what would become Blacoh ( The “co” in Blacoh comes from “Cornell”). Over the decades that followed, Gary became one of the most respected and well-known figures in the pump industry, known by colleagues across the field for his expertise and character and turning Blacoh into the global company it remains today.

Blacoh exists today because of the foundation Gary helped build. We are grateful for his vision, his legacy, and the industry he helped shape.

On behalf of everyone at Blacoh Industries, we extend our deepest condolences to Gary's family, friends, former colleagues, and all those whose lives he touched.

At a manufacturing facility in Arizona, repeated water hammer events were sending pressure spikes through nearly 100 feet of piping. This created pipe movement so severe that operators avoided standing nearby.

That’s not just a maintenance issue. That’s a safety concern!

Same type of pump. Same process. Completely different performance.

In this polymer dosing application, a peristaltic pump was creating pressure spikes from 0–70 PSI, making flow erratic and difficult to control.

As the video shows:

➡️ Without pulsation control: the pressure gauge is bouncing and flow is unstable
➡️ With a pulsation dampener: pressure stabilizes and flow becomes smooth and consistent

By adding a pulsation dampener that is properly charged, the spikes are eliminated, making accurate dosing possible.

Sometimes the difference between unstable and reliable really is this simple.
