- Providing assistance as needed to the VDOT Department team – entering orders, downloading jobs, putting bids together, etc.

Job Description
Whitlock Brothers, a division of the Construction Materials Group, is seeking an Account Manager to join our team! You will work to continue business with existing clientele and seek to acquire new clients within an established territory in the Newport News area.
Responsibilities:
• Present and sell construction materials, tools, and equipment to new and existing customers
• Prospect and contact potential customers
• Reach agreed upon sales targets by the deadline
• Resolve customer inquiries and complaints
• Set follow-up appointments to keep customers aware of latest developments
• Create sales material to present to customers
Qualifications:
• Previous experience in sales, customer service, or other related fields
• Familiarity with the residential, commercial, and infrastructure construction
• Ability to build rapport with clients
• Strong negotiation skills
• Deadline and detail-oriented

Whitlock Brothers became a member of the Builders’ & Contractors’ Exchange back in 1942…as a painting contractor. The application was signed by T.E. Whitlock. He was one of THE Whitlock Brothers.
A lot has certainly changed since then. 🕰

These are just some of the guiding principles that have led Whitlock Brothers, Inc. to continued growth leading into 2019.
Whitlock Brothers, Inc., began in 1934 as a paint contracting firm. After WWII, the company did general contracting from 1945 into the 1950’s, when an opportunity arose for the company to become a WACO Scaffolding dealer. In 1951, the company got out of contracting and did scaffolding rentals and sales only, adding small equipment sales and rentals and, over time, introducing many of the new types of light equipment that were being invented. Keeping a watchful eye on the ever-changing market, they continued to expand their product lines. By 1976, the company had moved into slab construction materials. Following changing market demands, Whitlock Brothers eventually became a preferred distributor of construction materials, supplies, and equipment to contractors across Hampton Roads and the Mid-Atlantic area. A major secret to the longevity and the success of Whitlock Brothers has been the dedication and commitment to training the staff to be experts in the field we supply. Our customers know they can have confidence in our knowledge and service.
While we did change the direction of the business over the years, the underlying business principle of ours never changed. We not only offer materials, we offer expertise in our industry. We have done this over the years through investing our resources for training our sales staff. We also offer on-site consultation to make sure our clients get the right products for the job and know how to use them. Clients of ours have a distinct advantage in their markets when they utilize the services we offer. From the same-day delivery to the advice of our in-house experts, we provide them with a leading edge in the industry.
To celebrate reaching a milestone of 85 years in business, we are hosting three events this year. The first one is scheduled for April 10th at our Norfolk store. The second will be on June 5th at our Newport News location. The third will be on September 18th at our Toano location. We are so excited to share this celebration with our customers and show off some of the new innovative products we currently offer and give back to those who have given us their trust in this business.
