Home of the Free. Because of the Brave.

We commemorate Memorial Day this year highlighting the Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, a federal military cemetery in San Diego, California. Fort Rosecrans is one of more than eighty VA national cemeteries that use upright headstones and flat grave markers in separate burial sections. The cemetery was designated a California Historical Landmark in 1932 and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016.

Thank you to all who served.

In observance of Memorial Day, Life-Assist will be closed on Monday, May 25th.

Every call you respond to requires judgment, control, and the ability to adapt without hesitation. The consistency behind that performance, day after day, call after call, distinguishes every First Responder.

Thanks to you, standards stay high because you keep them there, on every scene, for every patient. We see you and appreciate your resilience, strength, and your dedication to the job every day.

This Save-A-Life/Stop the Bleed Day, check your kits, refresh your training, and make sure you are equipped with the tools that help you control bleeding fast, because the right preparation saves lives.

Caring for children in an emergency takes a different level of focus, skill, and composure. Smaller patients, different protocols, and high-stress moments require you to adapt quickly while keeping care precise and compassionate.

Thank you, First Responders, for the extra attention you give to your youngest patients and the steady presence you bring to families in difficult moments.

Did you know a love story is responsible for rubber medical gloves? Introduced in the winter of 1889 by Dr. William Halsted at Johns Hopkins Hospital, initially to protect nurse (and future wife!) Caroline Hampton from antiseptic dermatitis caused by harsh chemicals. The introduction of gloves transformed surgery, marking a crucial step in modern aseptic techniques.

Progress in EMS is not accidental. It is built through training, repetition, and a commitment to staying current when protocols, tools, and patient needs evolve.

On EMS Education Day, we recognize the work that happens off the call, continuing education, skills refreshers, and constant learning that make confident, coordinated care possible when it matters most.

Every call is an opportunity to make a difference.

During EMS Week, we recognize the dedication, compassion, and commitment First Responders bring to the patients and communities they serve.

This year’s theme, “Improving Outcomes, Together,” reflects the teamwork behind EMS and the impact that comes from working together to provide care when it matters most.

From all of us at Life-Assist, thank you for everything you do. Happy EMS Week!

Commemorating the officers who made the ultimate sacrifice for their communities.

Life-Assist is proud to sponsor with organizations like the First Responders Children's Foundation, advocating for families of officers lost in the Line of Duty. It also supports, promotes, and facilitates educational activities and programs created and operated by law enforcement and firefighting organizations whose purpose is to benefit children or the community at large.
