Pressure management plays a critical role in the performance and reliability of hydraulic systems.

Accumulators are often used to help systems respond to changing demand, absorb hydraulic shock, maintain pressure, and supplement flow when it's needed most.

While they may not be the most visible component in a hydraulic circuit, their impact is felt in a number of ways; from helping improve system stability, to protecting components, and supporting overall efficiency.

Whether the application requires energy storage, pressure stabilization, or surge suppression, selecting the right accumulator is an important part of building a well-balanced system.

Depatie stocks a variety of Parker accumulators and pressure management solutions to support a wide range of industrial and mobile applications.

A customer came to us with a noise complaint. Their air pump was audible to patients and staff, and they needed it quieter.

When we looked at the system, the source was structural. They were running a reciprocating pump, the kind that produces a harsh, pulsating sound profile that's difficult to attenuate without adding hardware they didn't have space for.

The fix wasn't just acoustic, it was replacing the pump architecture entirely.

We specified a high-performance blower instead. Smooth, pulsation-free airflow. No mechanical reciprocation. The noise resolved, and the system picked up a faster response time in the process, something the customer hadn't asked for but immediately put to use.

The stated problem and the root problem aren't always the same thing. Finding the second one is usually where the real work starts. If you have a custom engineering problem that needs to be solved, visit us in store or online at depatie.com

The future home of Depatie Fluid Power is coming together, and we couldn't be more excited to share the latest progress!

A lot has happened since our last update, including:

- Interior walls are being painted, and the space is really starting to feel like home.

- Offices are being framed in, giving shape to the work environments our team will call their own.

- New conference rooms and an engineering lab are taking form, purpose-built spaces designed to support collaboration and innovation.

- The Parker Hannifin store is coming together, and it's looking to be a great destination for our customers.

- The power unit assembly space is moving along, and our paint booth is being installed as we speak!

Every beam, wall, and room being built represents our commitment to serving the industries that keep the world moving, and we can't wait to open our doors.

More updates coming soon. Stay tuned!

Once the application has been defined, the next step is developing a solution that aligns with the customer's objectives, operating requirements, and constraints.

Conceptual design is where engineering decisions begin to take shape.

At this stage, our team evaluates factors such as:

- System functionality and performance requirements
- Available space and installation considerations
- Component selection and integration strategies
- Serviceability, reliability, and future scalability

The goal is not to finalize every detail, but to establish a clear direction before moving into detailed design and development.

A strong concept helps identify challenges early, evaluate alternatives, and ensure the proposed solution is aligned with the application's intended performance. By investing time upfront in conceptual design, we can reduce risk, improve efficiency, and build a stronger foundation for the next stages of the project.

If you're exploring a custom-engineered solution, Depatie's engineering team can help transform your application requirements into a practical design approach.

When evaluating a system, it's natural to focus on the big-ticket items; pumps, the valve stack, even a cylinder or a power unit.

But system performance is often influenced by components that receive far less attention, like a fitting that creates unnecessary restriction, a filter that has exceeded its service life, or a sensor that provides inconsistent feedback.

Individually, these components may represent a fraction of the system's total cost.

But their impact can be much larger. That's one of the reasons troubleshooting can be challenging, the source of a performance issue isn't always where you expect to find it.

Stop by a Depatie store or visit us at depatie.com to see how we can help you find the right components that positively impact your equipment.

Depending on your application, your fluid power supplier's quality system matters as much as their inventory.

Our Portage headquarters operates under three quality certifications: AS9100D, ISO 13485, and ISO 9001. All other Depatie locations hold ISO 9001.

For most standard distribution and fabrication work, ISO 9001 covers what's needed. But for customers working in aerospace, defense, or medical device manufacturing, the quality management requirements go deeper.

AS9100D and ISO 13485 exist specifically for those environments, and maintaining them means our processes, documentation, and traceability are built to hold up under the audits those industries require.

Ultimately, whether you operate in a highly regulated field or simply refuse to compromise on the reliability of your systems, quality matters. When evaluating fluid power suppliers, it’s worth asking about the standards they uphold behind the scenes. We’re always happy to walk through what ours mean in practice.

Filtration selection gets treated as a straightforward spec decision. In practice, it's one of the easier things to get subtly wrong.

The most common issue we see isn't using the wrong filter; it's sizing for peak system flow rather than continuous operating flow. The filter passes the spec on paper, but under real operating conditions it's cycling through its bypass valve regularly. At that point the filtration interval is meaningless.

When we're working through a selection with a customer, we're looking at actual operating flow, fluid viscosity at temperature, the ingression environment, and the cleanliness target for the downstream components. Those four things together determine the right filter. Any one of them in isolation doesn't.

We're an authorized Parker distributor. If you're working through a filtration spec and want a second set of eyes, it's the kind of problem we work through regularly.

Memorial Day is a day we set the work aside and remember why it matters that we get to do it at all.

For over 70 years, Depatie has been part of the fabric of Michigan manufacturing; built by people who showed up, did the work, and took pride in what they made. We don't take lightly the freedom that makes that possible, or the people who paid for it.

To the men and women who gave everything in service to this country, we remember you today, and we're grateful every day.

Our offices will be closed Monday, May 25 in observance of Memorial Day. We will reopen Tuesday, May 26.

Seven components. One body. The customer hadn't asked us to redesign anything.

A customer came to us with a fluid management component that worked. The issue was the cost and weight were both higher than they needed to be, and both stubborn under conventional cost-reduction approaches.

When we looked at the design, the problem was structural. The component had grown incrementally over its development history. Seven separate parts, each reasonable on its own, assembled together in a way that introduced multiple potential leak paths and a final part that was harder to service in the field than it needed to be.

We went back to the application requirements and designed from there. A single custom injection-molded body replaced the assembly. The interconnections disappeared. So did the leak points. The part became lighter and simpler to replace.

The outcome was a 30% cost reduction and a 75% reduction in weight. The customer asked us to apply the same approach to two related subsystems before we'd finished the first.

Good design tends to surface the next problem worth solving.
