Here’s a prime example of why A/C repairs can get pricey.
Modern vehicles now use a more corrosive refrigerant — all in the name of being “better for the ozone.” The downside? These systems are far more prone to leaks, and when they leak, they leak bad.

One of the most common failure points (especially on many Dodge vehicles) is the evaporator core. It already lives in a high-moisture environment behind the dash. Add corrosive refrigerant to the mix, and you’ve got a recipe for leaks.

Because the evaporator is buried behind the dash, a lot of shops overlook it — it’s tricky to test and even trickier to inspect.
