Meet the Tweed: Seth Beckley, Senior Development Engineer 👋

For the past 15 years, Seth Beckley has been helping drive innovation at Greene Tweed. Since joining the company through our Rotational Engineer Program, he has built a career centered on advancing materials technology and manufacturing excellence.

Today, as a Senior Development Engineer in our Structural and Engineered Components (SEC) group, Seth plays an essential role in advancing the future of Xycomp® DLF thermoplastic composites, including expanding its application into high-performance motorsports through our partnership with McLaren. With a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Delaware and an M.S.E. in Interdisciplinary Engineering, with a concentration in Materials, from Purdue University, Seth collaborates cross-functionally to develop next-generation components and manufacturing processes and push the boundaries of what’s possible with thermoplastic composite technology.

Among Seth's many contributions, two projects have stood out to him during his time at Greene Tweed. First was the development of an automated molding cell for Xycomp DLF production, significantly increasing manufacturing efficiency and capacity while reducing repetitive manual tasks. And second was pioneering a rapid prototyping process for Xycomp DLF that reduces first-prototype lead times by up to 50% and lowers tooling costs. This breakthrough has accelerated customer adoption across several high-growth markets and earned the team a prestigious GT Innovation Award.

Outside of work, Seth enjoys spending time with his family, restoring classic cars and historic homes, and serving in his church community.

Thank you, Seth, for 15 years at Greene Tweed and we look forward to what's ahead!

Greene Tweed is excited to share that we have expanded our in-house testing infrastructure with two new capabilities: cryogenic leak testing and supercritical CO₂ rapid gas decompression (RGD) testing.

Between faster qualification timelines and more extreme operating conditions, the need for rigorous, application-relevant validation is growing. These new capabilities allow Greene Tweed to support customers earlier in the design cycle, generate performance data faster, and reduce the technical risk that comes with operating in some of the world's most demanding environments.

Here’s what to know:

- Cryogenic Leak Testing evaluates sealing performance at temperatures as low as 4 Kelvin (-269°C / -452°F) — reflecting real-world conditions in semiconductor etch processes, aerospace systems, and liquid hydrogen applications.

- Supercritical CO₂ RGD Testing supports the rapidly growing carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) market, evaluating materials and sealing solutions under harsh supercritical CO₂ conditions up to 350°C and 5,000 PSI.

As Cory Massey , Senior Manager of Product Engineering & Simulation, shares: "The next generation of semiconductor, aerospace, hydrogen, and CCUS technologies are pushing the boundaries of material science. Greene Tweed is investing in our testing capabilities now, to provide the future cutting-edge material applications demanded by our customers' most extreme, can't-fail operating conditions."

As industries push equipment into more demanding conditions and environments, sealing performance is becoming a critical factor of uptime, emissions control, and asset reliability. In a recent article in Processing Magazine, Greene Tweed's Tyler Monzel examines how advanced polymers, thermoplastics, and materials are reshaping the future of sealing technology.

At Farnborough International Airshow, we sat down with Greene Tweed's Sebastien Kohler, to discuss an exciting recent collaboration: the co-engineering of a lightweight Anti-Roll Bar lever for the Arrow McLaren IndyCar.

In the video, Sébastien covers:
- How the Anti-Roll Bar works and why it matters to IndyCar performance
- What it was like working side by side with the McLaren team
- How Greene Tweed's materials expertise contributed to the final design

Co-engineering a precision component for one of motorsport's most demanding environments isn't just a technical challenge; it's proof of what's possible when two high-performance teams share the same standards for quality and innovation.
