Yellow Goes Green

Yellow Goes Green We're converting an iconic American School Bus into a sustainable, eco-friendly, off-grid mobile home! We'll travel from the US to Argentina! Stay tunned!

Our story is about spirit of adventure, companionship and chasing a goal of making a living doing what we love - traveling and shooting videos and photos, while making a positive change on our world. Our plan is to be able to live green and to give back. Buying an old school bus and to convert it into a sustainable tiny home on wheels, solar powered and able to leave a nearly carbon neutral footpr

int. We want to make things matter. We plan to plant trees on every country we will visit, compensating for our CO2 emissions, a leading cause of global warming and therefore creating a natural "give and take" with the environment. We plan on doing volunteer work on the way and get involved with the local communities, ONGs and to contribute our own little grain of sand to the pile. This is a complete adventure and we have no idea how things are going to turn out. All we've got is our backpack, camera equipment and desire to explore. But that’s what it’s great about it The world gets bigger when you’re living small. Like our page so you can stay tuned on our adventures! NEW VLOG!

On this video we'll show you how we converted a computer desk into a kitchen counter and our water tanks setup as well as our water pump, that we scored at Home Depot for $13,98.
In addition, we started our DIY composting toilet project and we built the walls of our bathroom.
Everything is pretty basic but fully functional.

On our next video we will put up the paneling on the ceiling and walls and will install the laminate flooring. Stay tuned!

Thanks Karen Thompson for this life saver computer desk! It became our kitchen counter, toilet structure and spare table.

NEW VLOG
So after we were done with the metal flooring, it was time to start with the insulation. So first, we had to do the framing. We used 2x2 for the floor and 2x4 for the window framing. We used 1 1/2 inches foam boards ("Foamular 150", R 7.5 ) for the floor, walls and ceiling and "R-15 Kraft Faced Fiberglass Insulation Roll 15 in. x 288 in" for the back of the bus, where the AC unit is located, as well as most of the electrical wiring of the bus, making it impossible to use solid boards.
We used plywood for the subfloor.
And we decided to raise the walls on our bedroom and bathroom, so we got rid of half of our windows and we insulate them too.
Next step: We're building our bathroom, our DIY composting toilet and a kitchen out of a computer desk we got for free at Marketplace. :) Stay tuned! Subscribe to get notifications!

Here's the nightmare/challenge that was removing the floor of our School Bus. It took is us 10 days straight, working on it from dawn to dusk!
This was rust chaos! It was hidden under the subfloor and we had no clue we would find this. Also... we were the lucky ones to get the wheelchair rails on our bus and we had to remove them so we could replace the whooooole floor! It was not a matter of choice anymore!
Basically, we spent 10 days straight just to remove our floor. Now we still need to sand/polish it, apply a good rustoleum primer, then the actual rustoleum enamel and finally the new galvanized metal sheet. We used 18 angle grinder discs to cut the rails in pieces we could remove... We got covered in aluminium dust and our faces turned grey! Gladly, we're way pass that and we'll be on the road soon.
I'm now getting busy with editing all footage of our conversion so you can check the video about this long adventure with the floor and all the others soon.
