Manufacturing cement requires high temperature and combustion of fuels. The limestone used in cement production goes through decomposition which produces carbon dioxide, making cement production responsible for about 8% of total carbon emissions by human activities worldwide. Our research shows California, Florida, Missouri, & Texas produce the most concrete in America annually.
To support with the reduction of carbon emissions the HCRMIX Research & Development Team has infused portland cement with a local biochar, & plant fiber. The formulation was able to suck up to 36% of its weight in carbon dioxide from the air while still reaching a psi comparable to ordinary portland cement.
Our research could significantly reduce carbon emissions in the Concrete Industry, which is one of the most energy and carbon intensive of all construction manufacturing industries.
