A lot of patients don't show up with just one complaint.

It's not uncommon to see someone dealing with shoulder pain and knee pain, or low back pain alongside plantar fasciitis.

Traditionally, that can mean longer treatment plans, more appointments, and more time away from work or daily activities.

That's where Dual Therapy changes the conversation.

By combining hands-free laser therapy with another treatment approach, clinicians can address multiple areas during the same visit without extending appointment times. The result is a more efficient experience for both the patient and the practice.

It's not about doing more for the sake of it. It's about making better use of the time you already have.

One of the biggest frustrations in clinical practice is hearing a patient say:
“I was getting better… and then I plateaued.”

That is exactly where technologies like Class IV laser therapy begin to change the conversation.

As Dr. O’Connor explains, photobiomodulation is not about replacing chiropractic, rehab, or physical medicine. It enhances the body’s ability to heal when progress slows or traditional approaches stop delivering momentum.

What makes this especially relevant for modern practices is that the technology benefits both sides of care.

Patients experience a more advanced, science driven approach focused on healing and recovery. Providers gain the ability to improve workflow, expand service offerings, and build sustainable cash based models around measurable outcomes.

That combination matters. Because when patient outcomes improve consistently, growth becomes a natural byproduct of the care experience.

One of the biggest mistakes in rehab is making the entire conversation about pain.

Yes, reducing pain matters. But if that becomes the only focus, patients miss the bigger picture of what recovery actually looks like.

In this clip, Dr. Proulx discusses the importance of laying out a clear care approach from the beginning. Not just where the patient is today, but where they are going next.

Because recovery happens in phases.

Those transition phases matter more than most people realize. They are the small wins that build momentum, improve compliance, and help patients understand that progress is happening even before they feel “fully better.”

When patients understand the purpose behind each stage of care, they become far more engaged in the process.

This is one of the biggest misconceptions about shockwave therapy.

Many clinicians assume adding technology means replacing the hands-on care, exercise strategies, or rehab systems they already trust. But in most real-world clinics, that’s not how it works.

Shockwave is usually integrated into the existing plan, not substituted for it.

That’s what makes it practical. It can fit before exercise to improve tolerance, after manual care to support tissue response, or as part of a broader treatment sequence without disrupting workflow.

And honestly, that’s where it tends to become most valuable:
Not as “another therapy,” but as an additional input that helps the rest of the plan work more effectively.

One of the biggest reasons patients hesitate around laser therapy is uncertainty about what the treatment actually feels like.

The reality is much simpler than many expect.

Class IV laser therapy is designed to deliver therapeutic energy deep into tissue to support cellular repair, circulation, and recovery. During treatment, most patients simply feel a gentle warmth in the area being treated. Many describe it as relaxing and comfortable.

The treatment itself is non invasive, typically painless, and well tolerated across a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions. Serious side effects are rare, and sessions are often quick because higher powered Class IV systems can deliver therapeutic energy more efficiently.

Every patient and condition is different, which is why treatment plans are adjusted based on individual presentation and goals.

For many clinics, laser therapy has become a practical way to support pain relief and recovery without relying on medications or invasive procedures.

Many clinics seek ways to improve patient outcomes without adding unnecessary complexity to care delivery.

That’s one of the reasons Hands-Free Laser Therapy is gaining attention across chiropractic, physical therapy, and sports medicine practices.

By allowing high-intensity Class IV laser therapy to integrate more naturally into the treatment flow, clinicians can maintain consistency, improve efficiency, and create a more comfortable patient experience.

It’s not about replacing clinical expertise, it’s about supporting it with technology designed for the future of modern care.

One thing that’s becoming more obvious in practice is that patients rarely walk in with one perfectly isolated complaint.

It’s usually low back pain with secondary knee irritation.
Or plantar fasciitis that’s already changed the way they walk.
Or shoulder pain that’s tied into the cervical spine and upper quarter mechanics.

And honestly, this is where dual therapy starts to make more clinical sense.

This isn't because “more modalities” automatically means better care, it doesn’t.

But because laser and shockwave do different jobs.

Laser is often better for broader regional pain, tissue sensitivity, and improving tolerance to movement or manual care. Shockwave tends to fit better when there’s a more focal chronic tendon or soft tissue component that needs a stronger mechanical stimulus.

When those roles are clearly defined, the visit feels more organized, not more complicated.

That’s really the shift.

It’s not about adding technology for technology's sake, it’s about building a treatment structure that reflects how patients actually present in real life.
