📢📢📢 TIME FOR
The folks over at reached out to me and asked if I would like to try out one of their heavy duty waxed canvas shop aprons and then to also host a giveaway for one! I have wanted a shop apron for a long time, but always saw it as a luxury item va a necessity item.
This is going to help me from spending sooo much time searching for the things I'd like close at hand. With a pretty competitive price of entry on this it makes a lot of sense to try out a heavy duty waxed canvas apron. I've used it for about 4 days now and can say that it fits well. I'm 5'-8" and this would easily fit a wide range of individuals. I zip tied the excess strapping so it's not dangling all over the places.
Anyways, now to the good stuff! Like this post and tag a buddy in the comments who you think would enjoy a shop apron. I also would appreciate it if follow both me and
One entry for each comment with a unique person tagged (don't tag big accounts like Marc or corporate accounts) max of 20 entries. I retain the right to void an entry if you're spamming someone so don't be that guy... No giveaway accounts. This giveaway is not affiliated in any way with Instagram. Must be in the continental USA, ships from Texas Canvas Wares.

As I'm flying to I've been reflecting about the builds where I learned a lot more than I expected. This solid cherry dresser build was one of my first big complicated pieces that included a lot of hand tools and a lot of finesse!
Luckily this one went to my nephew so I get to check in on it every once in awhile! Proud to say it's holding up nicely and that Arm-R-Seal looks sooo good on it.

This charcuterie board started out ROUGH! SWIPE ➡️➡️➡️to see all the pics, and the chunk I salvaged it from keeping a couple live edge parts.
I got this super rough offcut from my buddy .woodworks
And wanted to squeeze one more project out of the shop before this week! Yes!!! Who's pumped!?
After planing it and then cutting the contour with my new jigsaw and sanding it with the new sampler pack from for my Bosch 6" sander (they have an awesome one for the 5" as well)
Finally finished off with cutting board oil and their superb wood wax.

How about that grain!? Swipe ➡️ for the before!
I recently snagged some old very rough walnut that had been sitting in a barn for 30+ years from my buddy Daniel .woodworks ... I've been running things through my planer and removing the layers and layers of dust, hay and bird crap. It is very tedious work, but then I come across transformations like this and it is all worth it! Of course I had to wet it down a bit with water once I saw it starting to come to life!
Feel free to send condolences to Daniel...
Oh and since I have been needing to change the blades on my planer anyways, I'm not worrying about damaging the blades from dirt and small rocks on the wood surface. Otherwise I'd hit the boards super quick with some 60 grit to knock that super dirty too layer off.

Where do I begin with the ending of this project? It by far was the most complicated, difficult, time-consuming, and challenging woodworking project that I've ever taken on. It was also extremely rewarding, pushed my knowledge to new limits and has me hungry for the future (after a short breather of course)!
First off, I'd like to thank my customer and friend Andrew for trusting me with this build and additionally for deciding to go with walnut vs stained alder. That was a dream come true!
Next I'd like to thank some friends and fellow woodworkers for their knowledge, tips, advice, support and motivation! Kyle , Ryan , Mike , Keith , Matt .hemmelgarn.1 , Daniel .woodworks and others. Thank you!
Last but not least, a huge thank you to my wife for the support, encouragement, sacrifices you've made throughout this project and also my hobby in general. Love you! @ Omaha, Nebraska

Now THAT was stressful! As per usual, on the complex glue ups I forgo trying to record it on video. I eliminate any extra things that I have to worry about, and the perfect camera angle isn't one of them when I have to clamp it down within the open time of the glue.
I used quick and thick on the diagonals so I could progress through the entire stand in one evening. And of course is locking it down. The deep reach Tradesman clamps were especially useful in addition to the parallel clamps.
My table design inspired is by Keith a walnut wizard!

Router table half-lapped joinery FTW!
After cut the edges to the exact width and clearing out the majority of the extra waste out if these, I took it over to my new router plate insert fitted with my new 1617 router that I got for an early Christmas present. The bit is a templating bit I got from the and I'm SOOO glad I figured out I could use the template bearing to keep the bit flush to the sides of the half laps.
Once I got one side done, I dropped the other one in and marked the edge with a marking knife. Then, set the router to the line. This allowed me to set the bit at the exact perfect height without having to measure at all.

Clamping it down HARD with the clamp family! All together there was about 24,000 pounds of clamping force... However, at 5.25" x 36" for 189 sq-in that put the clamping pressure at 126 PSI (24,000 lb/189 sq-in). Recommended PSI for hardwood face to face is 150-200 PSI!
I have no doubt though, that the TBIII is going to hold like a champ! 💪 I also appreciate their tech support on clamping pressure recommendations for their glue. I had to go full jug squiggle on this one and looks like I'm almost out! 😳
Have you ever had a glue up where you pondered if you had enough clamps?

The top is now finished! It has 5 coats of Arm-R-Seal and I'm absolutely in love with it! At a 63" diameter it was hard to handle all on my own but turned out absolutely amazing. Really glad I went with an oil based finish and out of those Arm-R-Seal is the real deal! 💪
The glue seams turned out flawless, it's nice and I'm really digging the character of the walnut. Thanks again to for preselecting, rough milling, and delivering the lumber!
Next up is getting cracking on the base while the Arm-R-Seal fully cures to a solid hardness before it sees any use and abuse.
