Some of you may know that at the end of 2019, I walked away from my 26 year career as a coppersmith and opened a motorcycle shop and coffee bar so that I could pursue my passion for building custom choppers and other machines. It was bad timing, as six weeks after opening our doors at Revival Motors and Coffee Co., a global pandemic got underway and we were shut down. It was quite a difficult year, doing our best to survive as a brand new business in the midst of all that was happening locally, nationally, and internationally. We were closed, then open, then trying to stay on top of health mandates, just like all the other shops in the USA. We lost more than a few vendors, and unfortunately a few clients. But, despite it all, we remained open and built a loyal community of riders and coffee fans that kept us grounded and determined to make it through to the other side. Just when we thought that we were seeing a light at the end of the tunnel, a building that was being constructed directly next door to ours (also a difficult obstacle to our success as it was under construction) was lit on fire on December 15th. The immense fire jumped the alley and destroyed our home, the home of a young man and his kids upstairs, 8 other businesses in our building, and two neighboring businesses. To say that this has been devastating is a huge understatement. We have lost nearly every bit of our coffe equipment, our employees are out of work, tools have been submerged in thousands of gallons of water/ash/drywall and whatever else poured through the ceiling that was once the floor upstairs, and client bikes. All of our parts inventory, manuals, computers, furniture, art, mementos, gifts from clients, etc were soaked and mostly ruined. The contents of our shop sat for 8 days while federal and local investigators sifted through the rubble in a massive investigation, which is still ongoing without a final determination. Our community turned out in force to help us move everything into a warehouse that was kindly donated to us for a short term storage solution. We are navigating insurance and our sorrow on a daily basis, and have no idea when we will find a new home or when we will get any answers or solutions to our situation. In the meantime, we are asking for your help. This isn’t something we want to do. We have always been fiercely independent, and have tried to give far more than we would ever ask of anyone. However, in these trying financial/emotional moments…we are in need of help. Our future is uncertain and any timeline to getting back to work is undetermined. Please, if you can, make a donation to us or any of the other businesses listed below the “read more” part of our fundraiser. If you can’t donate (we know that times are difficult for all of us and the timing of this in the midst of the holidays doesn’t help at all) please share our story. We will be back, somehow, some day, in some way. I will post a few pics of the bikes we have built in the comments below, so that you can see my dedication to art is not limited to copper lighting, but extends to two and four wheels as well. Thank you Olympia. Thank you to all of my clients at Craftsman Copper, and thank you to all of our loyal clients at Revival Motors and Coffee Co.
