Monthly Safety Topic for June: Hazard Communication ☢

Hazard Communication (HazCom), often called "employee right-to-know," is an OSHA standard (29 CFR 1910.1200) requiring employers to inform workers about chemical hazards in the workplace.

Key components of HazComm include:

👨‍🔬Labeling
👨‍🔬Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
👨‍🔬Employee Training
👨‍🔬Written Hazard Communication Plan

Our employees here at Spartan Arc have access to our SDS and Chemical Inventory through a Binder located within each trailer and work shop, and through an Electronic System accessible through their phones.

Monthly Safety Topic for May: Machine Guarding! 💂‍♂️

Did you know? Unguarded machinery causes approximately 18,000 amputations, lacerations, and crushing injuries—and over 800 deaths—annually! ☠

Machine guarding protects workers from injuries like amputations and burns by covering hazardous areas (point of operation, power transmission) on machinery. OSHA requires that guards prevent, in any way, a worker's body or clothing from entering danger zones during operating cycles. ⚙️

Different types of machine guards include:
🤖fixed,
🤖interlocked,
🤖adjustable,
🤖self-adjusting barriers.
