Planning to spend time outdoors this Labor Day weekend?

Now is a good time to clean outdoor cushion covers so they’re fresh and ready for the long weekend.

Before washing:

• Shake or brush off loose dirt and debris
• Check the care label to make sure the covers are machine washable
• Treat stains according to the care instructions

After washing, make sure covers are completely dry before putting them back on the furniture.

[LAUNDRY TIP] How often should you wash your dish towels?

Probably more often than you think! Here are a few helpful guidelines:

• Busy family kitchen? Wash dish towels daily, especially when they are in constant use.
• Smaller household or lighter use? Washing them every 3–5 days is usually enough.
• See a stain or notice an odor? Wash the towel right away.

Between washes:

• Hang towels fully open so they can dry properly between uses.
• Use separate towels for drying clean dishes and drying hands.

When it’s time to wash:

Check for visible stains and pre-treat as needed. Follow the care label and use the hottest water temperature that is safe for the fabric.

[LAUNDRY TIP] Sort your laundry before you wash

Sorting your laundry helps you choose the right wash settings and avoid unwanted color transfer.

Before loading the washer, make sure to:

• Check that the washer is completely empty
• Separate whites, lights, and darks
• Read the care labels for washing instructions
• Wash new dark or brightly colored items separately, as they may release excess dye

[LAUNDRY TIP] How often should you wash your sheets?

Try to wash them once a week, or at least every two weeks.

During the summer, you may want to wash sheets more often. Sweat, body oils and everyday dirt can build up quickly on your bedding.

When laundry day comes around:

• Check the care label first
• Wash sheets separately from other laundry
• Don't overcrowd the washer
• Dry according to the care instructions
