Long before COVID-19 changed the world, the healthcare industry had the foresight to introduce motion detection as a means of preventing visitors, employees and patients from touching doors. The goal was to mitigate the transmission of harmful pathogens.

We used a similar technology to create a motion activated receptacle as seen here in the photo. Since April of 2020, we have proudly shipped our “no-touch” smart compacting receptacles to hospitals and facilities here in the U.S. and to several countries throughout the world.

This week we had the honor of increasing by 20, the number of Bigbelly Solar Powered Compactors within the Village of Port Jefferson. Our off the grid solution to waste management is now in several municipalities here on Long Island, in over 50 States and over 50 countries world-wide.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Mayor Margot Garant, Village Administrator Joseph Palumbo, Superintendent of Highways Steve Gallagher and Paul Penske of the Department of Public Works for their dedication to the greening of their beautiful Village.
