.246 MOA with a .308 Win

This is my personal whitetail rifle that I built last year. It is a Black Coyote Precision Rifles .308 Win build. At the range this morning it shot a .246 MOA 3-shot group at 100 yds with handloaded Barnes 130gr TTSX bullets pushed by TAC powder in Lapua cases. Muzzle velocity measured 3,204 fps in a 20” barrel with a Garmin Xero chrono.

Rifle is a blueprinted Re*****on 700 with a Bartlein 5R stainless barrel that has 8 straight flutes, a Timney Hunter trigger and has been glass bedded in a HS Precision stock.

Grizzly Bear Rifle

In the final stages of chambering my griz rifle out in Colorado at Trinidad State Gunsmithing School. This Brux #5 barrel is being chambered in .338 Wi******er Magnum and being fitted to a stainless Wi******er Model 70 controlled round feed action. Sourced the action in Juneau, Alaska and soon it will return to Alaska.

Trinidad State Summer Gunsmithing

Spent the week in Trinidad Colorado taking a welding class towards my Gunsmithing Certificate. My instructor Robert and I formed a connection as we’re both very interested in American Indian history and hunting. He’s a fine human being and a great guy. He always called me the black coyote and before I left today he insisted on making me a custom metal sign on the CNC plasma cutter.

Another female at about 15 min before sunrise this morning.

Think I’ll swap my trigger out to a Timney532 two-stage model. It’s a thing of beauty and I love the control and sensitivity.

Had these two females down in the snow before sunrise this frigid morning. When sunrise came, it was absolutely stunning!!

Cattle farmer sure was happy as were the heifers with calves. Last two mornings I’ve walked in really early and just spotted them out cruising for a meal. First one was in with the cattle and the second one came in to jackrabbit distress even though we don’t have those here in Kentucky.

This is rifle #2 again. Defiance Tenacity action, X-Caliber carbon fiber barrel in an AG Composites stock. .243 Win shooting Sierra 70 gr BlitzKings at 3380 fps. I like to think these early mornings on cattle farms with a rifle I’ve built as my test and evaluation lab.
