progress.

returned to the gym last night after we both took last week off and I am focusing on strengthening my catch position in the next strength cycle. As you can see, I hold the overhead position at the bottom of the sn**ch for a bit longer than normal, because I'm swaying and not v stable. I hit a big PR two weeks ago and it highlighted a bunch of lil things to work on 🀨

I've said it before and I'll say it again - not all progress is about lifting bigger weights!

Here I compare my 165lb/75kg clean and jerk from 2019 to 2021. Gentle reminder that progress is found in MANY more ways than how much weight gets lifted. I'm so proud!
Differences:
β€’ MUCH more CONFIDENT lift (2019 was a PR)
β€’ Improved positioning throughout
β€’ Slightly wider grip
β€’ That BOUNCE
β€’ Overall, it is just a more efficient lift!

Similarities:
β€’ Both are cleans and jerks

We always start workouts with a dynamic stretch routine to gently ease into movement. Considering most workouts are done either first thing in the morning or after a day of work - it's important to check in with your body's mobility after being still for an extended period of time before you start going cray with your workout!
I typically follow this dynamic stretch with a bodyweight and banded movement series. Full video coming to your local YouTube channel soon!

We've been rocking the 7mm thick neoprene knee sleeves from for our weightlifting sessions.

These provide added stability, compression, and increase blood flow to the joints, without restricting mobility. Worn purely as a preventative measure!

If you're looking for sleeves, you'll find a ton of options - mostly in thickness. Thicker sleeves provide more support than thinner ones. 7mm is usually the thickest and is the standard for weightlifting. If you're competing, check out which brands are allowed for you specifically. Rogue knee sleeves are approved for most IWF and IPF competitions.
