We are proud to have participated in the Arizona Energy Consortium (AEC) Southwest Energy Conference (SWEC) this past week in Scottsdale, AZ.
The SWEC brings together regional stakeholders in power, water, regulators, policymakers, and data center market participants to align on how to meet the challenges of unprecedented load growth while maintaining low-cost power for retail customers and being good stewards of our natural resources and communities.
Our own VP, Renewables, Blair Loftis, led a panel discussion on meeting labor demand in colliding markets, where we are oversubscribed not just for parts and pieces but for the people required to manufacture, design, construct, and operate the data center campuses and all that is needed to support them.
The common theme was that no part of the market is immune. From chip manufacturing to electrical line workers, substation design engineers, and equipment operators, the pinch is real.
It was great to see higher education, like GCU, stepping up to help fill the gap and partner with the industry.
