Had my first big Oops going to do a plow install.
I removed all parts off customer old truck and upon removal, customer was specing out new truck. So, I based my installation off the same specs since customer told me it was same exact truck just a couple years newer.
Well, with that being said, before I got too far in to the vehicle, I double checked my parts and that everything will work. Upon doing my product selector to figure out my parts, I found out that the customers front axle weight rating is actually lower on the new vehicle than it was on the old one.
Now, I am in a hard spot where legally, I can not put the stuff on the vehicle due to weight issues once hooked to plow. I wasn't able to do the install on the vehicle. Just parked it back outside.
Now, I feel like crap because I had to tell customer and he's not too happy with me.
The biggest learning lesson I have gotten out of this is, the front axle weight rating is the most important piece of information needed when specing out a truck and wanting to put a plow on it. That it is a very vital piece of information I need when specing out a plow for any customers vehicle.
