Hydroseeding by Clever Name Contracting, LLC HYDROSEEDING Hydroseeding (or hydraulic mulch seeding, hydro-mulching, hydroseeding) is a planting process which utilizes a slurry of seed and mulch.

The slurry is transported in a tank, either truck- or trailer-mounted and sprayed over prepared ground in a uniform layer. Helicopters may be used in cases where larger areas must be covered. Aircraft application may also be used on burned wilderness areas after a fire, and in such uses may contain only soil stabilizer to avoid introducing non-native plant species. Hydroseeding is an alternative t

o the traditional process of broadcasting or sowing dry seed. It promotes quick germination and inhibits soil erosion. The mulch in the hydroseed mixture helps maintain the moisture level of the seed and seedlings. The slurry often has other ingredients including fertilizer, tackifying agents, green dye and sometimes other additives. Hydroseeding is used to seed grass on commercial sites (highways/motorways etc.), golf courses, lawns and areas too large, inaccessible or unsuitable for cost-effective conventional methods. Starting a lawn by hydroseeding is considerably cheaper than laying sod/turf and quicker than using seed. It is also used to spread mixtures of wildflower and tree/shrub seeds or turf grasses for erosion control. The first commercial hydroseeder was invented in United States in the early 1950s in order to efficiently shoot seed and fertilizer over broad areas

It's still too wet here locally for spring lawn raking. Using a rake in the soft soil can tear out too much of the plant. A leaf blower is an alternative if you just have to do something before it dries. A person may want to consider an electric cordless blower if you’re in the market for one.

However, this is a perfect time to sharpen your lawn mower blade(s) or have it done by your local hardware store. Wearing sturdy gloves during removal and reinstallation can help prevent injury. If it is time for a mower update battery powered could also be worth a look.

I do not recall such ideal conditions for spring yard raking. With as dry as it is and so windy only the old dead stuff comes up leaving the roots with the little new growth in place. Even shaded area are real dry. I like to use a metal spring rake. If you like noise rather than listening to nature go ahead and use a power rake, dethacher, etc. Tomorrow looks like another great day for lawn cleanup before they say rain may move through on Sunday.
