Day 1 of welding on the Idaho fish šŸŽ£

The base layer is complete 🄳
welding the fins on the body was a challenge, I had to do some build up in that area so the connection won’t look awkward. Looks ugly now, but once cleaned up the body and fins will all flow as one.

Next steps:
-grind down some spots
-wire wheel clean up again
-layout layer 2 and prep parts to weld

-laying out parts & brainstorming
-marking certain areas that need to be torched

This one is headed to Idaho so the goal is to make it somewhat light-ish šŸ˜† we will see how this goes lol

A quick look at a recent upgrade to the setup.

Bought a set of rolling welding curtains for the tent, and they’re going to make a big difference. Wind has always been a deciding factor on how much I can get done, so having a way to block it off should mean a lot more consistent days.

More time welding, more pieces getting finished, and a smoother overall process.

It’s one more step toward the long-term goal of having my own shop. For now, this setup is coming together in a way that really works.

Slow improvements, better work. 🫶

Note: I couldn’t find a ladder šŸ˜†

šŸ”„Quick shop update regarding custom projects and pickupsšŸ”„

To keep things running smoothly (and to keep large metal animals from permanently moving into my house), I’m putting a couple simple policies in place for future orders. Some are new, some are old.... either way it doesn't hurt to put a reminder out.

• A 50% non-refundable deposit is required before work begins on any custom piece. This helps cover materials and time invested in the project.

• The remaining balance is due at pickup once the piece is completed.

• Completed projects must be picked up within 30 days of completion.

My workspace and storage are extremely limited, and pieces take up a lot of room. If a completed project is not picked up within 30 days and I’m unable to reach the customer, the deposit will be forfeited, and the piece will become my property to sell or repurpose.

I truly appreciate everyone who supports my work and respects the time and effort that goes into each piece. Thank you all very much. 🫶

This fish was one of the early projects—second or third, I think.

Entirely stick welded. Yes, even the washers. šŸ™ƒ

At the time, I didn’t own a MIG.
What I did own was misplaced confidence. šŸ˜†

I remember laughing in frustration for a solid stretch of time…then it finally clicked.

Nothing builds skill like stubbornness. šŸ˜‚

Horses were one of the most rewarding and bizarre parts of my life.

Beautiful. Competitive. Emotional. Confusing yet illuminating.
Not always gentle, but unforgettable.

There are incredible people in that world.
And a few bad apples that can change everything.

The horse world gave me grit, drive, clarity, and thicker skin than I expected to grow. I’ll always be grateful for that.

When building metal horses, I go back to those experiences and work them into specific projects. It’s a way to honor and keep the memories alive.

This horse carries himself like he knows exactly who he is.
Storms and all.

There’s something about that quiet confidence. 🫶

Built a tank.
The turret spins. The hatch opens.

And for reasons I can’t fully explain…the road wheels are capped with bud light bottle caps. šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

Functional? Questionable.
Charming? Unfortunately, yes. šŸ˜†

Intense owl energy.

10/10 would judge you silently from a tree.

Good morning šŸ˜€

Just a quick thank you to everyone who read, shared, and reached out after my last post.

Thank you for seeing me.... not just the work, but the story behind it. 🫶

Enjoy the day! šŸ’•
