Why we say YES to this work? Because there is a beautiful lesson in leaning away from “fixing” the character of wood and instead embracing it. We often hesitate to call this a “profession” because the real work isn’t just building—it’s finding the beauty within. That process feels like home to us.
What can we build for you?

Every project feels personal to us, and we’re doing our best to hold tight to that feeling.
There is something profoundly beautiful about the process: taking a tree, milling it into wood, and shaping it into a piece that eventually finds a permanent home in yours. It’s more than just woodworking; it’s a transition that brings something special to your home.
We don't just see wood—we see a legacy in the making.

There's beauty in the everyday tasks and this handcrafted oak shelf, with its raw live edge and deep, rich character, is a true labor of love. It's a daily reminder that even the most ordinary tasks like laundry can be beautiful.
Laundry day feels just a little warmer and more personal now. How can we add a touch of warmth and character to your home?

We see our work as a privilege. It’s found in the long hours of sanding and the lessons learned through mistakes. It’s about “living in the process” as we’re one step closer to the work we’re called to.
We try to stay out of the way. We soften the edges so your hands can appreciate true tree material, and we smooth the roughness to reveal the natural patterns unique to that single tree. We spend time contemplating how to do less, because we want you to see the history in the wood. We want you to feel the storms it weathered and the seasons it grew through.
Whether it shaded a backyard and held a childhood swing or stood by the river and held ground as the water rolled by, that tree had a life. Our job is to make sure that story doesn’t end at our workbench.
What will we build for you?

My right hand is my needle hand. One big take away while building with this gnarly oak was simple, use my left hand to check for splinters so my right hand was free to dig them out.
Time and experience is the best teacher and these custom floating shelves were worth it all. Thank you to Sheppardbrackets for building a product that can stand up to the weight of these beauties, we appreciate your product and support. And we can hardly wait to see how
goldenaura.alchemy makes them even more beautiful in her dreamy space!

Don’t miss the process; it leads you to the moments you don’t want to miss.
We sand and sand and sand these gnarly oak floating shelves, softening the rough edges to let the old-world character breathe. Honestly, calling this "woodworking" feels too generic. It’s more about seeing the gift hidden in the raw, "undesirable" debris and making space to appreciate the beauty within.

Floating shelves are officially one of our new favorite projects! There is nothing more satisfying than handcrafting these out of reclaimed Iowa hardwoods to reveal the deep color and character hidden beneath the surface.
These pieces bring a sense of history, warmth, and natural beauty to any room. We’ve paired them with to ensure a heavy-duty, professional-grade wall mount for easy installation and a true "floating" look.

Write it down, make a plan.
We’re pretty excited to have a dear friend in the shop with us this week to draft up a plan, pick her slab, chalk it out and get her hands a little dirty on her project. The oak slab she chose is a perfect compliment to her laundry room space and having her be a part of it all makes this a project we are proud to be a part of.

What’s the first cheese you’re pairing with this beautiful board? There’s a tension in woodworking between the desire to “do more” and the wisdom to do “just enough.” For our new TreeHugger Wood Mesquite Collection, we chose the latter.
We fell in love with the deep, earthy character of this grain. Each board tells its own story through its textures and tones. By keeping our touch light, we ensure that the natural beauty remains the star of your table.
Understated. Organic. Authentic.
