🚨 Important Power Grid Update 🚨

The North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), which monitors the reliability of the U.S. electric grid, has released a new report on future power needs.

One of the charts in the report shows where electricity demand could grow faster than power supply. Both MISO and PJM, the two grid operators that serve Indiana, are listed as areas with higher risk in the coming years.

NERC says this is largely due to coal power plants shutting down, electricity use growing quickly, and new power plants and transmission lines taking longer to build. As reliable, around-the-clock power sources like coal go away, it could become harder to keep enough power on the grid during extreme heat, cold, or high-use periods.

PRESS RELEASE: Energy Transfer LP today announced it has reached a positive financial investment decision (FID) for the expansion of its Transwestern Pipeline to increase the supply of natural gas to markets throughout Arizona and New Mexico from Energy Transfer’s premier asset base in the prolific Permian Basin. Transwestern’s Desert Southwest pipeline expansion will provide reliable economic supplies of natural gas to support the long-term energy needs for utilities and energy providers in the region driven by population growth, high-tech industry demand and data center expansion.
