Another project we’re working on with Artistry In Motion, Inc.and StudioEIS for the upcoming National Coast Guard Museum. A small piece of the whole project but an important moment in history.

Design and construction of the interior of the National Coast Guard Museum is well underway—and this is where the magic really starts to happen ✨

Recently, a part of the team traveled to New York to collaborate with StudioEIS, a sculpture and design studio where Coast Guard history is literally brought to life. During the visit, the StudioEIS team photographed real-life “models” (like those pictured) so historic moments can be recreated as immersive scenes throughout the Museum.

One of those scenes is a tableau—a fancy word for a frozen moment in history—honoring Ida Lewis, one of the Coast Guard’s most legendary lifesavers.

Picture it: It’s 1869. Two Army soldiers are returning to Fort Adams after an evening out in Newport when their boat capsizes. Without hesitation, Ida Lewis jumps into a rowboat, battles icy waters, and single-handedly rescues both men. For her bravery, she earned a Gold Lifesaving Medal and became known as the “Bravest Woman in America.”

This powerful tribute to Ida Lewis will be located on Deck 2 in Lifesaving and Safety—and it’s the very first scenic element visitors will encounter when they arrive. It doesn’t just tell a story; it sets the tone for the lifesavers who follow.
