Ok. This package came back this morning. It burns my ass but I took a few hours to chill so I didn’t say something stupid.
This item was ordered by the customer, we shipped what they ordered in a timely manner. Customer ordered via phone with a part number. Although, he had the wrong number.
According to our return policy, we don’t take these back although we have always allowed it because I’m not a dick. Now, if we screwed up and sent you the wrong thing, of course we will make it right, again, because I’m not a dick.
Now, what burns my ass is the lack of even a basic attempt to package items for shipping. If I sent an item to you, packaged like this, you’d be pi**ed and justifiably so. All I’m asking for is an attempt. I know stuff gets handled rough in shipping. If you’ve made an attempt, I’ll accept that and refinish as required. Cost of doing biz.
I know you’ve got some paper towels around or the peanuts you just received in the box. Newspaper, something….
From this point going forward, if it comes back like this, I’ll dump it in the scrap barrel and move on. No refund!
I know what some are going to say, “mark it down and sell it as used/blem.” Well I’m not in that biz and that takes time we don’t have. Additionally these will take as much time to strip and refinish as making a new set.
Last thing, some may wonder why our return policy is as it is. It has evolved over time to address issues that arose. Such as but, not limited to, customers purchasing and then changing their plan. Customers purchasing multiples to “cherry pick” parts, when they are virtually identical. Customers wanting to return stuff after it was installed. Customers wanting to return items after a year or more has passed.
