HARD TACK WILL BE OPEN TODAY!

10am to 5pm or as long as the air quality outside remains at healthy levels. The health and welfare of our staff and guests will continue to be our priority. While the air underground is amazing, we like to gather outside and visit, so wildfire smoke in the air will dictate our schedule... likely through the end of the season. We are so sorry to share that we won't be able to open today after all. Even though fire officials have given us the all-clear to reopen, our dear friend and tour guide, Billy, is under the weather.

Great news! Hard Tack Mine Tours reopening soon!

Thanks to the go-ahead from fire authorities, we plan to reopen for tours on Wednesday, July 22.

As the Elk Fire situation is still evolving and conditions can change, please check our page for real-time updates.

Hard Tack will be closed tomorrow, July 17th. We will be monitoring the wildfire situation over the weekend and see what the status is on Monday. We are dancing in the rain we have received today and hope for a steady flow over the coming days. Stay safe everyone! WE LOVE YOU!

WE ARE CLOSING EARLY TODAY! Local authorities have elevated the evacuation level to "GO" for the mountain area directly above our mine. While our immediate property is currently secure, we are taking this proactive step to ensure the safety of our guests and staff and to keep the local access roads clear for emergency personnel. Thank you for your understanding.
