This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of North and Central Georgia.
DAY ONE...Tonight...
Tropical Storm Danny will continue moving into East Georgia
through the night as it weakens back into a tropical depression.
As the system moves inland, it will bring with it scattered to
numerous rain showers with isolated thunderstorms overnight which could produce some strong gusty winds and heavy rainfall. On average rainfall totals will be low, but isolated locations may see
two to three inches of rainfall where heavy rain and thunderstorms
persist for prolonged periods of time and pose a threat for
isolated flash flooding. This risk, albeit low, will be highest in
areas east and south of Macon tonight.
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday...
As the remnants of Tropical Storm Danny continue moving towards
the metro area, increase moisture will bring scattered to
numerous showers and scattered afternoon thunderstorms to the
forecast area. Some storms could be strong with gusty winds and
frequent lightning, but the primary threat will be prolonged
periods of heavy rainfall, where flash flooding may pose a threat
in isolated locations.

Nothing to get alarmed about at this point, but we are monitoring an area of disturbed weather in the Atlantic east of the Georgia and South Carolina coasts that *may* develop into a depression or perhaps even a tropical storm in the next 48 hours. Any impacts here in Georgia would likely be limited to periods of heavy rain, even if it were to strengthen, but will continue to monitor and keep you updated.

It’s easy to argue that exterior cracks on your CTL’s rubber tracks are not a convincing enough reason to replace the rubber tracks. However, one of the main reasons for replacing your compact track loader’s rubber tracks when you notice exterior cracks, missing lugs, and or exposed cords is track failure. Here are four steps demonstrating how quickly this track failure can occur.

From Exterior Cracks to Track Failure in 5 Steps

Visible exterior cracks four or more inches deep
Chunks of rubber fall off

As you can see, exterior tracks can ultimately cause unforeseen track failure. It is a smart idea to replace your compact track loader’s rubber tracks as soon as you notice even just exterior cracks. Replacing the rubber tracks on your CTL before you experience complete track failure, will save you valuable time and money in the long run

Listed below are the four most common signs of wear and tear that can occur on your compact track loader.

Rubber Track Damage
Worn-Out Sprockets
Lack of or Excessive Track Tension
Unsafe Tread Depth

1 Exterior Track Damage (Cracks, Missing Lugs, Exposed Cords)
Cracked Rubber CTL Tracks

When you notice exterior damage such as cracks, missing lugs, and or exposed cords on your CTL’s rubber tracks, this is usually the first sign that your rubber tracks need replacement. The rubber tracks of a compact track loader are very susceptible to exterior damage because of the constant usage on rough and rocky terrains.

Exterior damage can also accumulate if your compact track loader’s rubber tracks are constantly scraping walls or driving over curbs. Consistently coming in contact with a curb can cause de-tracking, but if your tracks stay in place the excessive stress from those curbs will eventually cause exterior track damage.

A common mistake that some contractors make is leaving their compact track loaders in direct sunlight where the rubber tracks are exposed to the ultraviolet rays of the sun. These ultraviolet rays can cause dry-rotted tracks and you will also notice cracks and stress marks on your rubber tracks.

Main Points
• The potential tropical system currently in the central Gulf of Mexico is forecast to impact north and central Georgia from Saturday night through Sunday.
• At this time, the primary impacts will be periods of heavy rainfall, as well as quick rises in smaller creeks and streams, river flooding, and urban flash flooding.

Details
• The current rainfall forecast is for 3 to 5 inches across portions of north and central Georgia (including much of Metro Atlanta) with a local maximum of up to 6 inches across west-central Georgia.
• A Flash Flood Watch*** is in effect from Saturday afternoon through Sunday evening for much of west-central Georgia and Metro Atlanta, where the highest rainfall totals are expected.
• Flash flooding, especially in urban areas and other areas with poor drainage, will be possible. In addition, creeks and streams may rise out of their banks and inundate surrounding areas.
• At this time, there is a low-end threat for storms capable of producing brief tornadoes on Sunday. Details concerning the severe weather threat will come into better focus in the coming days, so stay tuned to the forecast.
***The Flash Flood Watch may need to be extended into early next week, as additional rounds of rainfall are possible.

If this holds true it looks like we get the bullseye of this tropical system this Sunday and Monday. Heavy rain and isolated tornadoes always associated with land falling tropical weather systems.

Cracks on the Tracks

As with most machines and their accessories, the exterior of your track is susceptible to cracks due to usage. It can happen if you regularly work on rough, rocky terrains, or if you operate the machine aggressively. If you find cracks appearing on the rubber tracks of your excavator, they need to be replaced. Also, ensure that your machine is parked away from direct sunlight to prevent damage.
