We never wanted to post something like this. But sometimes, silence can be mistaken for guilt — and that’s not who we are.
We’re Jon and Heather Karisny — a husband-and-wife team, small business owners, and proud members of this community. We run Imagine.Design.Build., where we create one-of-a-kind, custom-built items, and the wandering table, a food bus that serves made-from-scratch meals with a focus on giving back to the community.
Everything we’ve built has come from the ground up — long nights, honest work, and a commitment to doing things right. That hasn’t changed.
But recently, our names and businesses were dragged into a public attack that left out a lot of important facts.
A signed contract was in place. A non-refundable deposit (stated in contract) was made. CAD designs were completed. Materials were sourced. Hours of planning went in — before a single cut was made, that is our process.
When things got tense, we even offered to refund his deposit — with a 30-day window to make that happen. It was a good faith gesture, despite the terms of the contract.
But when the refund wasn’t issued immediately, the threats began: legal action, contacting the news, and eventually — public smears.
We stood by the contract and rescinded the offer.
The response? A ridiculously one-sided “news” story, misleading social media posts, and a flood of baseless accusations and name-calling.
Let us ask you this:
Have you ever signed a contract and walked away without consequences? Doubtful, that is the point of the contract, to protect the parties involved.
Would you put in hours of work — detailed design, planning, and materials — and then just eat the cost when someone changed their mind?
Because that’s exactly what was expected of us.
And when we said no — when we upheld the contract — we became the target.
Even worse, Heather’s business — the wandering table — was dragged into it, despite having nothing to do with the build. That wasn’t about resolving a disagreement. That was about causing harm.
We won’t play that game.
We started the work.
We followed the contract.
We handled the issue professionally — through the proper legal channels, not in a comment thread.
A cease and desist was issued. The original post has been deleted. Further legal action will commence if this behavior continues.
In the meantime, we’re still here.
Still building for those who value honest work.
Still cooking for the people who show up and support small businesses.
Still proud of what we do and who we are.
To everyone who’s supported us: thank you. You’ve kept us going.
And for anyone still questioning our integrity — our door is open. Come talk to us. We’d be surprised if you did, because most critics are louder online than they are in real life.
Our reputation wasn’t built on social media. It was built by showing up and doing the work — over and over again.
