Had an awesome opportunity to speak at the MITRE Summit about Drone use in Disaster Response.
I actually spoke a week before Hurricane Helene ripped through the US, and the topics that were discussed rang true in the aftermath.
I really hope that government organizations realize the positive impact that drones can make to capture critical data and deliver supplies very quickly, and I hope that the industry understands how important it is to develop a standardized training curriculum to ensure that UAS Pilots are effective.

Looks like I have to go to Florida and do a little damage assessment of my own.
Our house in Bradenton made it through Milton last night, and there appears to only be minor damage, thankfully.
Prayers for everyone in Florida who suffered huge losses.

Augusta was hit hard, but Western North Carolina is an entirely different level of devastation.
The community outreach and support from all over the country is an amazing thing to see.
Even with everything going on in our country, it restores hope to see everyone come together like this.
Keep the people of Western NC in your thoughts and prayers, and PLEASE keep in mind that media moves fast, and they’ll be focused on the next story in a few days. Meanwhile, these folks are living this same bad dream day in and day out.
Let’s not just move on to the next big story. Remember Hurricane Helene victims.
